• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CURIOUS - is the Clunk on shifting fm Neutral to First/Reverse Normal?

My 1989 BMW K100RS doesn't make a sound when shifting into 1st gear. Could it be the difference in a wet clutch (most motorcycles) and a dry clutch (the K100RS)? I think so....

My 2015 F3-S certainly clunks loudly when shifting into 1st or reverse.

Absolutely. There's always "drag" between the plates in a wet clutch, when the the throwout pushes them apart, because of the oil film in there. Your dry clutch allows complete disconnect from the crank to the transmission, just like in most cars. Theoretically, my Spyder should crunch less, once the oil gets hot, because it shouldn't drag so much, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. Well, I guess this thread is going to make me pay some attention to that scenario, next ryde, and check that theory out. Fact is, I like starting it in gear just so that I don't have to hear the clash of shifting out of neutral.
