• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Cross Country trip on Spyder

Well gang, I am happy to report I made my first 3000 plus round trip on the Spyder. I might add the Spyder performed flawlessly no probs at all it took me from Grand Junction, Co to Corpus Christi, Tx and back averaging 30 mpg. Only mods i had on it was a Chad windshield. Every where I stopped along the way there were questions I had to answer and tell them a little bit bout the Spyder and was happy to do it. Only saw one Spyder during my travels. Had bout 600 miles Interstate travel and had no problem with the Spyder the only problem I had was to remain under the speed limit. The Factory seat was not too bad but have sent in qualifications for "Iron Butt".
But all in all had a great flawless trip. ONLY problem I had must have lost my license plate during trip back home anybody lose their license plate. Looked in back this morning when I walked around my bike and checking it out before I set out for home and it was gone. I am one lucky Spyder owner no steering issues no issues peroid to speak off. Have a great day "Spyder Lovers":spyder2::2thumbs:

Glad to hear you had a safe trip, and that your Spyder performed well. Strange about the license plate deal though. Does it look like anything cracked from the vibrations, and it could have fallen off that way? I recall a thread by txknight67 where he was having issues because of an inspection bracket that hangs below the plate, and he showed where his plate was cracking around the bolts. :dontknow:

Glad to hear that you made it without incident! I also nearly lost my license plate, but it was hanging by a single loose bolt, which I noticed on my next walkaround. I think there's pretty serious vibration there on the RS, so I used thread locker when I replaced the bolts.

Did you ever have any problems parking at a Hotel or Motel with security of the Spyder?
Do you tend to park near your room door or out in a open parking area?:dontknow:

Agreed on the vibrations. Even with short 50 mile trips, my license plate always migates over as far as the bolts will allow it to move in the mounting slots; have to re-center it every trip.

I think losing your license plate is a rite of passage for a lot of Spyder owners. I lost mine within the first 3 weeks, my neighbor lost his (and he had the expensive billet type) and I read of several on this site losing theirs.nojoke

There is a lot of force on the license plate when you hit bumps at speed with the long swing arm of the Spyder. I would have lost my plate in California except that I had a zip tie thorough one of the mounting holes.

Nylock nuts are the best assurance against losing your plate. Lock Tite also works well. But if you don't use something and you don't check regularly you can pretty much count on losing it.

I know all too well about losing license plates... lost my first vanity plate within the first week of having it. Then I lost the second somewhere in Colorado or Kansas on our cross-country trip from California last September.

That reminds me, I should tighten those bolts and nuts up again....
