• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bummer...😠

I have the earlier model without the straps but with the extensions. But I got it at a great price back when. Don't see Harbor Frieght advertizing theirs anymore....it was a pretty blue....

Great jack. I've actually seen them a little lower in the past. It may qualify for an extra 10% off with their seasonal storewide incentive sales. You can always call and ask ahead of time.

Love mine!!!

I purchased one from HF at one point last year and ended up taking it right back after opening it. It just seemed a little too rickety for me.

Hands down - Sears was the winner for me.

Different

The red jack is steel, and Yellow is aluminum. Lighter, easier to move around, more convenient. We have a red one, too, and never use it!

Also, the yellow one drops lower and raises higher than the steel one, at least according to the specs given.

Have the Harbor Freight version. I really like it. Does anyone ever use the strap and leave it on the lift, or do most lower your Spyder onto jack stands or some other "supports"? I personally always lower it down onto jack stands. Just feels safer. I guess I've never considered trying straps.....seems kinda scary/risky

Do we need to get into a discussion of which is better, steel or aluminum, like Ford and Chevy does with their beds???:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Your gut is dead on. Never ever leave your machine up on a lift without locking it. Most of the lifts have a mechanical lock built in for this purpose. The piston seals fail very frequently if left under constant pressure, resulting in an instant drop to the floor lol. At the very least you need to use the lock thats built on to the jack. Relieves the piston of all the pressure. Best thing is to use the lift to get it where ya want it and then lower it a hair onto jack stands. I have a couple of the HF motorcycle ramp lifts. The kind you ride right up on to. Needless to say any HF lift is not the highest quality. Ive made the mistake of leaving my bike on the lift overnight without using the lock. And yep i heard a big bang at about 3am. Woke up in the am with the bike on its side on the garage floor and the lift lowered all the way down. The seal wasnt blown out but it did lower itself under the extended pressure time.
HF or any other brand, i wouldnt leave my machines on any lift without jack stands.

Those were among the deciding factors for me as well. I'm sure the red model also works well. I've not seen much that Sears offers that has been unfavorable.

Again, options are what makes the world keep going round and round. :doorag:
