Covering your Spyder

What is best practice for covering a Spyder nightly and for extended periods when you do not have a garage to keep it in? My friend has a Triumph and caused rusting on his custom pipes because the cover traps the moisture under the cover. I wonder if this could affect any belts from trapped moisture.

There have been reports of critters nesting in ones covered for longer periods of times like winter. Just covering nightly & riding daily should not be a problem.

I have/and use a Full BRP cover. I have used it for 5 years. Also, I keep my spyder outside, I have a 2014 RTS-SE6. I haven't had any critters on/or near my spyder.

I also have a 1/2 BRP cover which I use when I am traveling. I have the 1/2 cover for 4 years. I haven't had any problems with any critters.

Also I use Scotch guard ( 3m), Heavy Duty Water Shield for the Ultimate Protection Against the Elements One coat Application. The scotch guard works great. It can be used for other things like: boat covers, tents, back packs, shoes/boots and etc.

I use both, a half cover overnight when the weather is good, and a full cover for when it rains. For storms and severe weather I move it inside the garage for protection which involves moving other vehicles to make room.

I've never had a problem with rodents and varmints moving in during the winter months. I think "housekeeping" plays an important part in preventing visitors. Things like birdseed and the like are going to attract those looking for a home. (and a free meal)

There's no doubt: the "creepy-crawly critters" like to hide in dark places... :shocked:
Having said that: I always liked BRP's 1/2 cover for travelling, and their full cover for when I needed something a bit more protective...

But I never left them on for any longer than necessary!

I just bought a 2012 used 7' x'10' enclosed Cargo Trailer with a side door and a spring loaded rear ramp for hauling it to Jambories and to Branson, Mo. And for when I'm not "Farkling" it in the shop it'll be parked in there safe and sound, with 'mouse food' and borax sprinkled around to keep the insects away.

Fight the moisture

I have to keep my bikes in an unheated shed. Condensation was a problem. I solved it by having a small fan blowing all the time, 24/7. Condensation will not form in a space with moving air. This sounds like it will work for you folks that need to store their bikes outside under a cover. The fan does not have to be big. A desktop fan will do.
