• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Could be compitition for the Spyder

I think your dyslexia may be rearing it's ugly head again. :joke: Or maybe not...........................it's obvious Can Am is more than confident in us to be masters of our own fates and machines; based on their trust in our ability and competency to do burn outs and spin doughnuts on our Spyders :roflblack:. You know....................drive like the irresponsible adults we are.

Oh wait......................................................................................that's the "other guys" who trust us to do that.

170 HP out of a 2.4 liter mill??!! BAH!!!!! Bet there's some parts available to step up that game ! I'm curious as to how much HP and torque that final drive belt will take though...................................be fun to find out. I agree it's more car like than anything else. In the end...........................if I'd seen one before buying my RS.........................I'd be in a different forum right now.

Damn...............................I may have to eat my words and take another overseas project again! ;)

I'm guessing 99.9% of two wheel owners (and most car owners) think the Spyder is a snowmobile with wheels and shouldn't be called a motorcycle either. You get laughed at just as much a I do.

You all should be welcoming the Slingshot to the island of misfit toys, and we all can get laughed at together......

Will the Slingshot's impact on the Spyder be anything significant or even detectable?

No.

Is it competition? Put yer thinkin' caps on, folks...

OF COURSE IT IS!

It's competition for the consumer's greenback dollar, in the sport/recreation/fun riding field. It's competition for the finite pool of dollars available for _________ (fill in the blank: fun machines of all sorts), and it WILL take some of those dollars, even if they sell only ONE unit.

Green stuff... that's what all the manufacturers are competing for.

missouriboy never used the word significant.

I kinda look at the Slingshot as a sports version of the Eilo. Looks like fun, could be cool to take out, but is basically a auto rather than a motorcycle.

Which doesn't mean I wouldn't want a Slingshot or an Eilo if I should happen to end up with one. But it's a different niche for me than the Spyder.

You're right, and it seems that those people are more of the "look at me" types who probably got into Spyders because they were different and attracted attention.
is that why 55,000 people have bought spyders? to attract attention? you didn't buy yours for that reason, now did you ann? I haven't even met you yet and I just don't get that impression of you! i'm not looking to attract attention on mine, and that isn't the reason i'm buying a slingshot either. the ability to have my wife sit next to me and see what i'm seeing while riding, instead of having her behind me is the reason i'm buying a new toy. there will be days for the spyder, and yes it's staying in the stable. there will be days for the slingshot, and yes it'll be right there beside the spyder. :2thumbs:

This is getting just as good as the Harley Tri-Glide/vs. :spyder2: fights we had when the TG first came out.

Hey, the OP asked a simple question, let's not get bloody over this. It really is not worth getting mean about.

You buy one or you don't. What's the big deal. :roflblack::roflblack:

:agree:

The more misfit toys the better!

:agree: It's just another way to help you rid yourself of all of that excess cash that's laying around; doing nothing... :D
What's $20,000 or so; between friends? :roflblack:

My opinion is like that of many other people here. The Spyper and Slingshot are so different that there won't be many people looking at either one or the other in competition. I might like to have both but not for the same purpose. I bought a Spyder because it looked like a pretty good substitute for a motorcycle for long distance touring. The Slingshot is nowhere close to that. It appears to be kind of a substitute for a sports car. It was made for those who want to ride in a three wheeler rather than on it.

Comparing the Spyder to the Slingshot is kind of like comparing a bass boat to a wake board boat. Both will pull a wake boarder and you can certainly fish from either one but not very many people will buy either one for both purposes.

Was in one today. This thing is large. Twice the size of a Spider. 77 inches wide. Will be edgy getting into some garages. I liked it but would compare it to a full size sports car not a Mazda.

My Hanger is not full but this will take a little procrastination.
