Cost for installing a Trailer Hitch Kit

I was just quoted a cost of $150.00 to install the trailer hitch kit on my ride, was just wondering :dontknow: what anyone else has paid to have one put on. I was thinking of doing it my self but had some medical complication come up with my legs so gonna have to have it mounted for me.

I think that seems about right as I was quoted by my dealer $200.00 Can $ to have a hitch kit installed on my 2010 RTS SE5.
When I get a hitch I will be letting my dealer install it for me.

That sounds about right. I believe that it is supposed to take 1 1/2 hours to install. The wiring is the part that takes time.

Installation of the hitch is fairly quick. The harness install is what takes time. If the installer hides the cable so it doesn't feed thru the wheel well $150 is a good price. Mine is completely hidden and cannot ever come in contact with the rear tire. Others have had the cable run between the tire and rear cargo module which requires a cable clamp to keep it from contacting the tire. One of the members on this forum had it done this way and it came loose and was destoyed when the clamp came loose and hit the tire. The hidden method takes a little more time but makes for a clean install.

Thats a good price. The wiring of the harness to the bike is worth it. The hitch it self isn't hard to install. Removing the tupper wear on the left side plus saddle bag just to find the wire connection on the harness then mount the harness docking port to outside of the side bag. Just typing this is worth $150.00:roflblack: If you are handy and have the time and this is something you enjoy. Do it yourself and send me the $150 bucks:roflblack:
