• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

correct oil?

Weather permitting I will be picking up our 2010 RT tomorrow.
It has only a little over 1000 miles on it.
After reading that they use oil...
I would like to take a quart of oil with me just in case.

What is the proper weight oil?
thanks....

The weight is actually less important than other specifications. Anything from 5w/40 to 15w/40 will work very well. But you want an oil that is JASO rated at least MA and preferably MA2. Also, you want an oil without friction modifiers. You do not want an SM rated oil.

Here's one.

A bit easier to come by as its readily available at Wal Mart is the Valvoline Full Synthetic Motorcycle Oil 10W40. It meets all of BRP specs and is a great oil.

:agree: ..... It's says 4 Stroke on the label ...... and it's JASO MA-2 ....... Mike

There you have it....

Now if it is full when leaving your pickup destination you would not see much use for 500 miles or so. There are many suitable oils (I use the XPS blend from BRP) and you can get them from local stores motorcycle shops and online. I get the kits online and many get all they need from BajaRon here. I always carry an extra quart with me...

WALMART - VALVOLINE

I can never find this at our local Walmart stores....oh well...
Let your fingers do the walking :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: ....... seriously ....... buy it on-line and have it sent to your favorite ( nearest ) store for free pick-up ...... first check if it is on-sale in the SIX-PACK package  usually much cheaper ..... and if you buy a large quantity they send it to your home - FOR FREE ...... Mike

Its
not on the shelf with the other oils. Its on a different isle with the motorcycle accessories.

Or as Mike says, order online and have it shipped or pick up.

Some Advance and Orielly Auto parts locations sell it too.

I picked up a 2013 ST-S last month with 1400 miles on it. We have since put 500 miles on it. The oil level has not moved.

It always amazes me how many VERY low miles bikes there are out there.
