Cooling Fans

I have a 2017 RTL. Is there a way to check/ test to see if my cooling fans are operating? Had some hot weather lately, temp gage looks normal but during idling and traffic I did not hear them go on..

While idling or in slow traffic did the temp gauge rise much or approach the red zone?

No it did not.

My fans come on sometimes when stopped in real hot weather but the temp gauge has never gone above the mid point.
