• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those loyal, PowerSports Diagnostics customers, they now have the complete BUDS3 kit available, including the V800 interface unit. They are advertising a 15% off sale. Everything you need in one box. Thought you’d like the update.

Just FYI: When a dealer finally got the display firmware up dated last fall on the Asphalt Grey 2018 one that I bought in January 2024, it took BUDS2 and the BUDS2 like USB cable to finally do it and show miles to empty on the left center for the display. Nash in Mesa tried a couple times and Ride Now in Chandler tried many times before their BMW tech said try my BMW USB cable. The BUDS2 cable seems to be rolled or something compared to the BUDS3 cable which was the only Can Am BUDS3 cable they had. NASH had updated my (now gone) Champaign one back in 2021 or so along with my riding buddy Jerry's white. My other new to me 2018 Asphalt Grey which I will see for the first time in 2 weeks has the new display firmware already - I got pictures "so it really happened!!"

Yes, updating that display requires being connected with two cables at once. One cable is the usual BUDS2 connection to the Spyder's diagnostic (BUDS) port and back to the laptop's USB port. The second cable is a Male - Male USB cable connected to the Spyder's USB port and back to another, separate USB port on the laptop. So, you have two cables connected at the same time between the laptop and the Spyder. See link. I don't think it matters if they use BUDS2 or BUDS3. Connecting a separate USB cable to the Spyder's USB port is what's required to update that generation of display, and I see no reason why simply using BUDS3 would change that. Don't buy your USB cables at BUC-EE'S.

Maybe this chart is worth posting again. The dealers log into the mother ship system to check for updates. Last fall, BUDS2 was de-activated on their computers when that system automatically installed BUDS3. They have to use BUDS3 on the applicable model years, now. As a private individual, your copy of BUDS2 still works on the appropriate machines just like it always did. You don't need to upgrade unless you want that prettier interface.
