• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Compare spyder with Honda goldwing trike

I think an apples to apples comparison should be made between the two machines.

... we see another blanket statement about how undependable the spyders are. I also own two spyders and find them very dependable as I am sure many others on this site do. Yes, there have been issues, however, I am sure that if one looks into the history of almost any motorcycle, they are not without their issues.

Like the Frame Cracking Recall for all 2001-2004 Goldwings, (took Honda 3 model years to fix this) and the 2002-2004 ABS Brake Recall, and the cooling issues were not addressed until the 2006 model production year (That's a 5 year fix timeframe).

The Goldwing is an amazing machine and deserves the respect it gets. But it has not been without serious reliability issues, some which took even Honda 5 years to iron out.

All true, Gold Wings have had some problems, however none which left you 18 miles from nowhere as some have posted here. I only post that I have not had any GW problems with my two Wings. My 1500 was six years old when I was rear ended with 60K and my present '02 1800 with 61K....My '02 did not have a cracked frame...few of the total production actually had cracks. There were no accidents due to these cracks. My Wing does not have ABS, so I can not speak of any problems there.

Again, I am not defending Honda, but the 1975 was a 1000cc, later it was 1,100 cc, then 1,200 up to 1,500 and now 1,832 with different running gear in the earlier models.

I have not had any problems with BR1 (3,650 miles) and many don't....however we must admit there are a number of posts here of many different screen notices which required a trip to the dealer and some which just quit running/stalling at stop lights, etc.

Hey, none of our machines are error free and I am not defending the GW as all perfect, but we all know the Spyder requires some additional refinements. JMHO

I'd say that's a fair assessment. The GW has had a long history, overall outstanding reliablity and many loyal followers.

The Spyder is just getting out of the starting blocks. Innitial issues have largely been addressed. New versions bring out a few more bugs, but overall I'd say the Spyder is on the right track.

Everyone is looking for a bullet proof ride. No matter what you ride some are going to have problems. It's the severity, frequency and ease or difficulty (and expense) of fixing these that will tell the story.

I was only stating from my experience that the faith factor on reliability is not there yet with the
Spyders. I have ridden from Florida to Illinois and from Illinois to New York and back with out any
problems. I have also ridden short trips and did have problems. The other downside is the lack of
dealers. I have 2 Spyders and like them but it is always in the back of my mind that it could break
down anytime. I just drove 100 miles one way to the closest dealer for service and before I made it
my dash display went blank, comes and goes, now I have to make that long trip and tow my bike
back to the dealer. That is what I'm talking about!
