• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cold Weather Spyder Ryding

Alas, I'm afraid all we will have is the memories, until Spring. Hah, what am I talking about...it isn't even Winter yet? I just got an email from a friend further north in Ontario. He was spared, and they only got an inch. Who would have thought he would be better off way up there than we were. Oh well, I'll just brace for the next round on Sunday and Monday, and continue to live vicariously through the more fortunate Spyder owners further south, who share with us here.

:banghead:  Typical of the SpyderRyder site, it wouldn't remember my user name or password, I couldn't remember it and their option to submit my email address to retrieve the password and username was met with a "Internal error. Tech support has been notified of the problem" message. I tried every username and password combination that I normally use and finally found the one that works. For the few times I've tried to use that site recently, I wished they would hire a real website designer and support staff. :banghead:

Anyways, rant over. I voted for you Bruce. :2thumbs: Great story and I liked those snowmobile grip covers. Did they work out really good? I may have to try a pair as I don't plan on getting any heated gear anytime soon.

Thanks Brian! Maybe you will be the lucky winner of $1000 in Spyder accessories for putting in your vote, which will make all that aggravation seem worthwhile. The snowmobile muffs worked very well. If I am out on a long ride in weather that cold again (and I no doubt will be) I will use them for sure. They look a little odd, but they really cut down on the wind on your fingers.

Cheers,

Bruce

Cool ryde!

Hey, Bruce!

Well done!! Hadn't seen the Can-Am mits before - they would work well. Knowing Minnesota as we do, the first thing I did was wire W's spyder for her Gerbing stuff. Have since added HeadDemons grip warmers, and she went for the heated Russell seat.

Problem here is we've been salty for over a month! Poo.

Happy Ryding!

Thanks jnt. Salt is the issue here too. The story I posted was from October, and in mid-November we started to get some serious winter weather (snow, freezing rain, etc.), which means road salt of course, so I haven't been able to get Red October back on the road since then. Some years, we can get to Christmas and beyond without snow, but not this time! :banghead:

Thanks Roger. FYI, I believe you can still register on SpyderRyder as an Enthusiast, which would allow you to vote. You don't have to be an owner. I was registered for a long time that way myself.
When I stopped for lunch that day, I had a very hot bowl of chili and a cup of coffee. It tasted pretty good!

Thanks Mike! Where are you hanging your hat these days? Haven't seen you since the ride to Letchworth State Park.

Bruce

Moved to Eastern Kentucky/West Virgina border in the fall. Some awesome riding in the Mountains here. I found a used Bushtec Trailer and installed a new Bushtec hitch on my Spyder. Hope to tour the Gulf coast a bit later this winter.

At the moment I'm visiting family in Vermont for the holidays. Lots of snow and no more snowmobile, so I've rediscovered skiing.

You've got my vote! What a ryde!!!! :clap:I am definitely going to check into the muffs for the handlebars - I've never seen anything like them!
Merry Christmas!!

Bruce,

Logged my vote for you ryde. Great story - I know you will be glad when it warms up.
