• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone been on Hwy 296 - the Chief Joseph scenic byway?? Looks like a super target for this year's trip, and I wanted to make sure it's PAVED…

Any comments are welcome...

Drove part of Hwy 296 near where it intersects with US-212 (Bear tooth Highway) back in the early 90's and yes it is paved. Also drove the Beartooth Hwy as well between Red Lodge, MT and Cooke City, MT in a 24 ft C-class motorhome. The Beartooth is known as "the most beautiful drive in America," by late CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt. I plan to travel the Beartooth route from Red Lodge, MT into Yellowstone this August in our 40' motorcoach. You can virtually drive both scenic byways in Google Maps.

It's nice to hear somebody is coming through my neck of the woods. I live in Billings MT and have made that drive multiple times. I haven't done it on my spyder yet but it's on my list for this summer.

Just did the Chief Joseph and the Beartooth last Year. Beartooth from Red Lodge to Cooke City and then from Cooke City we went on the Chief Joseph to get back to Red Lodge. The second is the longer route but the Beartooth had two construction delays. I had done the Beartooth previously 2 or 3 years prior and really do enjoy the Vistas, most of my group were more impressed with the Chief Joseph going West to East. They are route we will probably do again some day. I found the Beartooth to be enjoyable at speed or just Sunday driving and enjoying the scenery and many scenic pull overs.
I am sure you will enjoy your trip.

I was looking at the map last night after reading this post........Wow, talk about a beautiful ride. You are fortunate to live so close to some of the prettiest parts of this country.
