• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

If you are reading this post or have read any of the many posts pertaining to this issue. And, have not inspected, or had, these hoses inspected. You are rolling the dice. This problem is not specific to 2013's. fwiw

:agree: They are cheap-enough to replace, that you might just as well "pull and change", instead of just inspecting.

Just got off the phone with the dealer . . . "The mechanic is still doing diagnostics and parts will be ordered when he is done." I sure hope that isn't dealer speak for " Oh, the Spyder that came in Saturday? Someone will look at it next week . . . or the week after . . . I think. " :dontknow:

Is it specific to RT's ?

Things are looking up . . .

Things are looking up . . . I got a "Visual Voicemail" on my cellphone from Fredericksburg Motor Sports, just after 2PM, yesterday . . . that I didn't see until 11:30 last night. My log on my phone shows no incoming call, so they must have used that app to send it . . . guess I need to find how to set up my phone to tell me when one arrives! Anyhow, they said: " . . . parts on order . . . needed a new sensor, hoses and a purge valve . . . actually it needed quite a few little things . . . we grabbed some parts off another one to see if it would solve the issue and it did. The bike is idling fine, of course the parts had to go back on the other customer's bike. Per BRP, we did it and sorted out all the parts needed. They were put on order earlier today. Parts can take anywhere from five to seven working days to come in and we'll get everything wrapped up as soon as the parts do show up . . . " While I was disappointed this occured and left me stranded so far from home, and I was not able to get a loaner to get home and back, I am happy, in a way, that it did occur last Saturday. nojoke I was not on the highway or in a crowded business district, blocking traffic when it happened; they discovered other things that required replacement, meaning (I hope) there is less chance that Topper will break down on my other planned rides this summer and fall, and, maybe (just maybe) my gas mileage will improve some more! When I was still working, this would have had me ranting and raving . . . retirement has been good for my soul . . . this is just a minor bump in the road and I look forward to a good long riding season . . . I even had a friend, who lives 90 miles away, offer to come and pick me up, and drive me to the dealership when Topper is ready to go! I think I'll buy him lunch!

good news and you are taking it in stride.
good on you.

Thanks, Roger . . . and there is no other way to take it without creating un-needed stress . . . it is what it is, there is snow on the ground, again, so I wouldn't be riding, anyhow . . . and thanks to this event, they checked a bunch of other things . . . who knew I had a bad purge valve?? Silver linings are there if you look for them . . . and I've always been an optimist! Life is too good not to be! nojoke

glad things worked out for you. I just had to reply when I read the" retirement has been good for me," sentence. you are SO correct.

thanks tim aka frenchek

Hmm awful lot of things for so few miles. I am assuming it is a MAP sensor and hoses as well as the purge valve. Did you have any issues noted when you had the recall done? You are right it is the right time of year to get it fixed.

When the recall was done last September, they had to replace the master cylinder, charcoal canister, and the parking brake cable . . . so, yeah, I'd say there were issues noted. Interestingly enough, nothing the dealer I bought it from did was reflected in the BRP computer . . . the recall work, the replaced heim joint, my 600 mile inspection . . . they documented nothing! The guy at Hanover PA checked everything to verify it had been done and documented it . . . yet another reason to stay away from my original dealer . . . we need a "Shake my head" icon, Lamont . . . although this also sums it up :gaah:! My garage seems empty . . . even when I pulled Mrs. Hayfield's car back into it . . . I need my :spyder2: to sit on during evenings when I am thinking deep thoughts about my next ride! While I'm here, I should say that Saturday was the first long ride with my new back rest and web pegs . . . wow! What a difference! They really add to the comfort . . . money well spent! :2thumbs:

That may be the explanation for the additional problems. Heat and rubber & plastic parts do not mix well. Glad you got it all worked out and hope you get many miles of smiles.
