• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

THREAD CLOSING

Speaking as someone who actually had a Thread closed on Them..........LaMont does a GREAT JOB with / on / for SPYDERLOVERS..........Nor-Cal you have the free choice to own and operate your OWN SITE AND RUN IT ANYWAY YOU WANT ...........just like LaMont...............Nuff said :gaah: :yikes: :agree: :shemademe_smilie: :thumbup: Mike ...........PS I think Bob nailed it.

Not much I can add here. But I also feel like most. IMO: Lamont did the right thing. :thumbup:

Ooops! Sorry but you have pushed one of my buttons.

I also have been on a lot of forums and been a moderator. I tell you it is very common for threads to be closed by moderators and the owner in fact no one else can close a thread. Some forums are so bad about closing threads they close them for many reasons like the thread doesn't need to be discussed even though many people are contributing. What Lamonster does on this forum is very refreshing and makes me comfortable being a member. If you feel the need to go then have a great day.

:lecturef_smilie:But don't think for a minute that you can control someone else's forum by complaining about it.:lecturef_smilie:

Lamont is very fair pertaining to moderation. I may not agree with some of the rules like no cussing....;) .. but I'll do my best to respect them.

I knew that thread was going to get shut down the minute I read the original post, which may have been well-intentioned, but was ill timed.

This forum essentially is Lamont's house. Don't like the rules of the house, best you stay out. That simple.

Hope you stick around as this is the best forum around.

Proper KILT Attire

My understanding of proper Kilt attire is ... what you see is what you get!! If a strong wind blows up and the kilt ends up around his chest all his manly hood will be exposed! BUT there is one exception which is a BLUE RIBBON around his manly man :yes: :yes: :roflblack: lets hope it is not tied too tight!! :gaah: Talk about BLUE BALLS :yikes:

The "webmaster" has the authority to close any thread but Lamont goes a step further to show he is open minded I that he kept the viewing "viewable" of what was already posted. Sorry, but someone sometimes has to make a difficult call that will never please everyone.

Lamont I am pleased you kept the post "viewable" when you had the authority to delete it in its entirety. A sign of courage and steadfastness not to bow to public pressure. Closing a thread does not diminish the individual thoughts already posted thus making them known to all who read. BUT..... There comes a time when it no longer is productive or informative. Such was the case.

No individual has control over the weather - PERIOD. You either ride or you don't - PERIOD. ENOUGH SAID......

I support Lamont

I support Lamont. Some of these threads could have been closed sooner. I was not happy to see people that work so hard for us to be bashed. We need to have respect for each other and act like mature adults.

Don't let the door knob hit you

as my grand dad would have see " don't let the door knob hit you on the way out."

They never are happy unless they can be the center of attention . Being a forums administrator has to be right up there with a moderator, and a webmaster. It can be wonderful and a PIA too!

Lamont we're with. You 100%

I've been on a lot of forums in my life and I have never seen the "owner" of that forum authorize the close of a thread.

Haven't been on many car forums have you? I can name one that after a statement like that above, not only would the thread be closed, but the poster would get a 3 day vacation - right off the bat.

You know what would be really funny......................................

Lets close this thread. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I'm a mod on another forum, and it's always a fine line between closing a thread that no longer has value and keeping it open. When people keep repeating themselves beating the dead horse, or the thread digresses into meaningless "me too" posts it's outlived its usefulness. But there will always be folks who feel the need to get in the last word. But if you think you have a new point to add that hasn't already been said, by all means start another one. Tough job that Lamont has, it's HIS house and we're his guests, and without his efforts NONE of us would be here, you know?

:agree: Freedom of speech stops at the front door. You wouldn't visit somebody's home, and start talking crap, would you? This is HIS home... Respect his wishes...

Was it really an issue with free speech or because you were planing on leaving anyway?

Hell of a way to exit. Especially when one takes your background into consideration.

Hope you find a happy place.

nice detective work! :thumbup:

:2thumbs: :agree: Another "disastisfied" rider I guess!

Lets close this thread. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

:agree: Let's stop:bdh: and let Nor-Cal Spyder go on his :spyder2:-less ways.

I've been on a lot of forums in my life and I have never seen the "owner" of that forum authorize the close of a thread. I've read all the replies to several threads about the subject of when and wear the next Spyderfest might be held and didn't see anything other then people voicing their opinion. I can't speak for all of you but I have no time for anyone who tries to squelch free speech, especially mine. Who ever is doing this, shame on you.

I'm done here....

Time to close this thread:clap:

This was an interesting read in the end the house wins we all agree that Lamont keeps this place informative and this is where we choose to be enough said.
