• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm a newbie to the Spyder world having just purchased a 2014 RT-S SE6. I'm inquiring as to what i should use or what works best to clean the bike?? Also can and/or should i use RainX for Plastic on the windshield to help with water droplets since i encountered rain on the ride home from the dealership...

I would really appreciate any and all advice on this.

Thanks in advance........

The same stuff that you used on your motorcycle works on the Spyder. I have always used Original Bike Spirits on my bikes, and now on my :ani29:. You can buy it in just about any motorcycle shop.

Choices choices..!!

there are many out there...I am lazy so I use the ones with the least effort involved...here is my list
Black Diamond....Shopspyderlovers.com from Lamont. Very good
Plexus....bike shop
Protect all....like plexus but cheaper
Pledge...my always handy find it anywhere stand by...

To keep the :spyder2: with the newly detailed look...after each ride, we take a spray bottle containing one dryer sheet and water. We hit the obvious stuff (bugs, road grime, etc.). The stuff really does work, it melts the bugs, takes off the surface dirt and leaves your :ani29: looking freshly waxed. An extra bonus--it even makes it smell good.

I have actually bucket washed my :spyder2:'s once each so far this season (beginning Mar 17th). It has been touch up ever since.

So you do not have to rinse the bike once you spray it with the dryer sheet/water solution??

Sorry...I left that part out. Darn cats bothering me and sitting on the desk. :roflblack:

We have a damp chamois to clean up the splotches and dry/polish the finish. Spray/wipe/polish is the regimen.

For a quick wipe down and to remove bug juice, mix 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water is a spray bottle. Spray on, let set for a minute or two and wipe bugs away. I use it to clean all my vehicle.

Mine has been washed once this year; other times I used Ice spray wax or Eagle One Wet and Wash spray ( my favorite, and smells good). Both can be used on black plastic and windshield without causing spots or whiting. Walmart and auto stores has it.

There are other detailers but read carefully to see if it can be used on windshield and black plastic.....lots of them can not.

I've always read that Rain-X cannot be used on plexiglass. Not sure about our windshields so I do not use it. There is another product that works to really shed water, made by Lucus. Forget what its called but its a spray. Can be used all over the bike including W/S.... Smells good too.

Honda polish.....cheap
plexus on the headlight, gauge/cluster and mirror. Too expensive for use on the entire spyder

Slick mist by lucas.
All i use besides water

Multi surface Pledge

I use the Pledge for bugs and just a damp cloth to wipe off the rest. Mine has not really been dirty yet.......

I use the normal wash N wax stuff and and water same as I use on my cars to get the road grit off. After that I sometimes follow up with Lucas Slick Mist. I also use FW1 Wash & Wax, I use this on our shields on our helmets as well as my windshield and head lights. It also is excelllent for getting bugs and tar off. It is really good at tar as I just hit a freshly oil & chipped road on Tuesday and I had tar spots everywhere and anyplace you could find to stick small stones it was packed full of them.:banghead:
