• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cleaning the Spyder wheels

Thought I'd share my latest effort to do something in an easier way! As I'm sure we all know, cleaning the Spyder wheels can be a real pain in the patootie. Since I'm getting my old Spyder ready to sell I decided I really should clean the wheels somewhat decently. As you can see below, they were in pretty bad shape for cleanliness. And they are fairly visible! :gaah:

Being one to try to do things in an easier way I got to thinking why not take the wheels off? It sure would make them a lot easier to clean. So, I took them off and hauled them off to our large wheel chair accessible shower. S100 Wheel Cleaner, Simple Green, an old toothbrush, another brush, and a hand held shower, and the process became quite tolerable. I've cleaned lots of things in that shower. Lot's of room, easy to spray water on stuff, and best of all, I don't have to worry about splashing water all over the place!

The dirty wheels, before. Looks like I need to try again to clean that cruddy shock!

Now, if only the rear wheel could be removed as easily! :gaah: I guess I'll just have to get on the floor to clean it. Fortunately, its dirty inside isn't nearly so visible!

I use Simple Green for cleaning the wheels. It works great. You must have a very understanding wife to let you clean the wheels in the shower!

Cleaning wheels on a regular basis makes life simpler.
True, if you are anal about keeping it clean! But I own mine to ride, not show off!! :roflblack: Took me about an hour each to give them a thorough cleaning. Two hours for two years ryding. Seems pretty simple to me! The spoke sides are hard to get clean when I wash the Spyder, too hard to worry about it each time I washed it!

 He never told her... :yikes:

I don't know if she's understanding, or just tolerant! Her accommodation for my methods began early, in our third year of marriage back in 1968. She wanted a piano. I found one at a good price but managed to drop it over the side of the pickup turning a corner while bringing it home. The soundboard didn't crack so I loaded it back up and took it on home. It sat on its back propped up on chairs in our living room for about 4 months while I repaired and refinished it!

We had a complete set of tins from one of Joe's V-Rods stored in our big bath tub for at least a year but I draw the line at cleaning greasy stuff in the shower.

Well I don't let mine get that bad but when I do clean them I use a toilet brush... Works great and get's in all the areas without removing the wheels.
