Clean record?

retread

I picked up some things at an estate sale recently, including a stack of 45s. Looking at the titles, I want to clean them so I can MP3 them, any ideas?
Thanks,

john

John, are you asking on best method to clean them or how to convert to MP3. I have a nice LP collection of old 70s Rock that I use a cotton cloth to clean with. I then picked up an ION LP player, which has a built in converter that allows me to plug it into Mac laptop and convert straight on to iTunes. This the model I have:

I have a special brush an fluid designed to clean records...but it probably hasn't been sold in decades. Any hits on Google?

Having 45s is one thing; having that little plastic adapter so that you can mount them up to a record player??

This is timely. I have been converting LPs and 45s the last few weeks. I also use the ION. I use a micro fiber cloth to clean them.

I used this too Bob. Just checked Amazon and lots still available. Can even be bundled with a player (USB).

There you go...!!

Sadly left all my old vinyl's when we left south america. So now have to get the music down loaded. Not the same. You might find one of the adapters for the center pin to play 45's. Good luck...

Don't forget that there's a juke box in Pitbull powersports that could use any duplicates that you might want to get rid of.....just sayin'.

I still have two turn-tables, and a mixer from DJ days. I still listen to my all my vinyl with them. There is just no other way that I like to hear them. And, I do have the little disc insert for the 45s.

Keepin the Vinyl Spinning

Thanks to all of you, I have a fairly large collection of vinyl, and some wax, dating from the '30s, but they've been kept as clean as possible. The 45s I just found are going to need to soak in something for a few days, I don't know what's on them, but they aren't going on my turntablr till they're clean.
Thanks again,

john

Try Radio Shack for the adapter. I bought my turntable there to replace the one I left at my other house.

No 45's here, but I have lots of 33 1/3 rpm. Billy Byrd (guitar) or Les Paul and Mary Ford anyone?:roflblack:

We've just got to make sure that it's stocked with the proper mood music...
Can you get "Magic Carpet Ride" on a 45?

I have a Marantz ,Klipsch system that sounds pretty good. I've been looking at the Ion turntable as well to convert Mp3 files to my Mac. Akspyderman, I have a couple of Les Paul Albums. Is the Ion a good investment?

The hubby (Tobor 9) would wash his albums over the sink using dishwashing liquid. Would wet the album then put a little bit of the liquid on it then rinse. If you use a cloth, even microfiber, you run the risk of scratching the dirt and other debris into the album.

this is kinda of weird thing on u tube dealing with 45's and cleaning

My wife's mother has an old juke box full of original Elvis 45's sitting in her basement:gaah:

We used distilled water and a wetting agent to lower the surface tension and dunk them in an ultrasonic cleaning tank and my original Hendrix and ELP vinyls are nigh on perfect.
Les Paul and Mary Ford....yes, yes, yes. Django Reinhardt on 78 rpm are as good as ever.

Sofia(SDM) did not tell you that I use just a drop of dish washing soap on the record as it removes the static charge and cut oils and loosens dirt with out damageing the record, works great.
