• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Checking oil RTS

Okay now that most of you are thinking...."great another newb who didn;t search" let me say, yes i searched. What i want to know specifically is this. When you turn the bike off, And unscrew the oil dipstick do you get hit, or hear, air pressure escaping after cap is unscrewed? I do, hence the question if this is normal or is the trapped air pressure the reason I'm losing so much oil...

Another reason Im asking...even after the bike has been well warmed up my Cobalt oil pressure gauge shows from 65-70 psi. And I am pretty sure i read it is suppose to be 60 psi doing 70 mph on a 2013 RTS SE5

Here's the thing..!!

all the big twins use oil. The manual tells you to check it every 500 miles. They tend to get better the more miles you put on it. I quit measuring how much but usually a quart between oil changes (4,600 miles) and I have 23,000 miles on her.
As to the air sound, I have never had it. It may depend on the oil some do foam a lot but the crankcase does have a breather. That may be something to check into..

The breather hose was pinched, I picked up a thicker walled breather hose, installed it. Blew through new hose into the crankcase to ensure no plugging. Also blew through it into intake, not plugged so at least it is breathing free and clear now. Cranked engine up and no more pressure when i remove the dip stick. So hopefully the pinched closed breather hose is why I was losing oil. I mean with the pressure built up it has to escape somehow. IDk how much it would push away the oil but I guess it is possible. Will find out in 500 miles if it helped anything.

Still curious why 20-50 isnt recommended by BRP?

Its too thick at start up for the hydraulic cam chain tensioners. Same reason Ford never recommended it in the DOHC motors, even for racing use.
