• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check Engine Light

I had a check engine light kick on while I was driving my bike. When I shut it down and got gas and turned it back on I didn't have the light. I downloaded the spyder codes app because I figured I'd be able to pull the code for the light but couldn't figure it out. Is there a way to pull a code on a 2012 RS without going to the dealer? Any help would be appreciated.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - MAYBE

But if it's not an ACTIVE CODE I don't think so.......sometimes a minor hiccup in the system will flash you on the screen but it doesn't mean something is really a problem or even going to be a problem .....However the KEY flash relating to the DESS issue is different ................ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: .....Mike

Here's the thing....

once you shut the ignition switch the codes are stored and can only be retrieved by the buds system at the dealer. When you get a warning shut her down via the kill switch and follow the proceedure in the app to get the active codes. In many cases you will not get the problem again and you need not worry about it. These machines have these glitches and will pop a code and once the computers reset (ignition off key removed) they are stored and things are normal....

Another good reason to get in the habit of using the "engine stop switch" (aka kill switch) first.

If your RS has HID headlights, it could cause errors but usually only on start-up not during a ride.

So is it best to always use the kill switch first to shut down the Spyder? I always turn the ignition key off, but never the kill switch unless it's an emergency. :dontknow::dontknow:

It doesn't matter how you turn it off both the kill switch and key will cause inactive codes to go away. If you get an error you need to pull up the code before you stop the engine. Of course, if the error is ongoing it will still be there when you turn the engine back on.
