• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Today I went to crank my Spyder and the check engine light and orange screen came on. No codes. I removed the key for a few seconds, reinserted it and still got the check engine light. After trying this about three times, I took the key inside and brought out my other key. Got check engine light again. Took key out, walked down my driveway for about 5 minutes to clear my head, then tried again. Spyder started up fine, no light and no orange screen. I took it for a 50 mile ride with no more problems. The original key is in an IPS key holder and stays in the Spyder 100% of the time. I have had the check engine light problem occasionally, say once a month or so. Usually by removing the key and reinserting it, everything is OK. But today was different. I'm wondering if the nanny threw a tantrum because the original key is always in the ignition? Would it be advisable to take it out occasionally, say overnight? Or is something else going on?:banghead::gaah:

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. When you say "no codes", did you press MODE, SET, and the turn signal cancel simultaneously to pull up active fault codes, or did you just not see any warnings scroll across the screen? A lack of warnings doesn't mean there are no fault codes active. At this point I would have the dealer look at the fault code history to try to determine the problem. Could be as simple as a flooded intake or a fouled plug, or it could be an indicator of a totally different problem. It would pay to hook it up to BUDS...especially if the problem happens again.

Check Engine Light

No codes flashed across the screen. I did not check mode, set, turn signal to see if there were any active codes. I will be taking it to my dealer soon for the service bulletin and a rear tire change. I'll have him check it out. Thanks.

I don't think it has anything to do with the key. The only time it looks for the transponder in the key is just after you first turn on the ignition. Any other time it does not look for or know it is there.

Thanks.

The codes don't flash automatically; you've got to go get them...

Lay your left thumb across the "Mode", and "Set" buttons
Take another thumb, and push in the turnsignal; as if you were cancelling the signal.

The active codes will then be displayed.

Engine Light

This morning before I went to work I inserted the key and turned it on. I then did the procedure with mode, set, and turn signal to check for codes. None popped up. I then started the Spyder and it ran fine with no check engine light or orange screen. Very perplexing!

If the cause of the of the fault has been corrected and you turned the key off. The fault code will change from active to occurred and will not display with mode, set, and turn. The Dealer can still see it when it's plugged in.
