I was riding in about 105 degree temperature this weekend and the Check Engine Code flashed across the dash along with the engine light and the Shift indicator had a "E" displayed. The steering also seemed to go from having power to not having power.
This happened twice now and both only in extreme temperatures. Since I was close to home both times I continued on. The first time I started the Spyder after sitting about 3 hours and all was fine. This was about three weeks ago. This second time I pulled the cover off the fuse and relay box in the trunk and all three relays were very hot to the touch. I placed a ice pack on top of them and then tried starting the Spyder within 10 minutes and all was fine. No Error codes.
The Fan was running and the Headlights were working so I doubt if these relays caused the Error code. Main Realy 2 (small Black) I believe is the one that most people have been replacing but has anyone found a replacement for the Main Relay 1 (large grey one)?
Any input is appriciated.
Thanks,
Mike
