Changing SE6 transmission filter

Can you swap out the Tranny HCM filter without doing a complete oil change (I.E. can you just drain the transmission side without all of the oil in the engine side tank coming out when I pull the transmission filter?)

The bike has only 800 miles on it's last oil change.

It's possible, but you would need to have your Spyder on it's left side. I do not recommend that, so I will say no.

Bought the bike with 27,500 miles on it. The seller did a fresh oil change, however, the HCM was not serviced. Warranty says I need to change the HCM filter in the 28,000 mile area. So I am doing that now. Do not want to void my warranty, I just extended it....

HCM FILTER

Papa, I just did mine ..... my RT had been draining for two months so when I did the HCM I barely had any oil come out ...... your's wouldn't go this way .......... so you can do either of two things #1. warm her up drain all oil from both drains into a CLEAN pan and then follow Doc's video, button her back up and put the oil back in ...... or do the drain thing don't bother with the oil filter and then do the HCM , and button it back up your choice .... Of all the various services, the HCM filter change while important is not critical at EXACTLY 28,000 miles. You supposedly have a fresh oil change from the previous owner, and if you know what oil was used and what oil you plan on using, just order a new HCM filter from BajaRon for the next time you change oil (end of year or regular 6-9000 mile oil change interval). The filter media in this filter is quite robust, and you are good if the previous oil changes where done as specified:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: JMO

Right on I have put 40;000 on this filter no problems.

Depends...

Seems you could just place your oil pan under you work area and catch the oil that drains out when you remove the cover. Personally I would dump it and top off with fresh oil after the filter change is made. Would not wait till next oil change if observing the recommended change period of 9,300 miles. Couple more thousand would not make a difference. :thumbup:
