changing oil for newbies

i know as we get closer to riding season and getting our bikes out of storage (for some of us anyway) some people change the oil before and some after i personally do it after. But i know we have many new owners and riders who may have not seen this post So with out further delay i will let our fearless leader take it away in this oldie but goodie post.
