• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Certification

I received my certification from the iron butt yesterday. I did Saddle sore 1000miles in 24 hrs, also the Bun burner 1500 miles in 36hrs, and the 48 10 with is the lower 48 states in 10 days or less. All on the same ride back in May. I was with a friend on a gold wing. It should be posted on the Iron but website with in a week or so. I would like to find out if other Spyder have done the 48 10. I know some Spyder did the Saddle sore and the Bun burner, but I so not see on their website if somebody else done the 48 10. I think it's a good PR for BRP. If some body has any information about the 48 10 that another Spyder done it let me know. :ani29:

Congratulations! You might take a minute to explain what type Spyder you have and what was done that allowed you to do these mucho long rides. I have only done a 1000 mile day once on a Venture with an almost 7 gallon gas tank and that was coming home from Colorado to near San Antonio. It was super warm with temps over 100 the whole way so I rode 90-100 mph and drank a lot of fluid but I was shot for a week afterwards. I was also much younger. I could not have gotten onto the Venture the next day if I tried. I can't imagine a gas hog like the v-twin engine being used unless you had an aux tank hidden somewhere.

Wow..!!

Congratulations...!! :2thumbs::clap::clap: thats a long long time in the saddle...so will you now be standing for the next week...:roflblack:

What a great achievement. :firstplace:

Wish I was young enough to do stuff like that. I have the time, but no longer have the stamina.

I have a RTS SM5 2011. I have Calsci windshield, Bajaron sway bar, Elka shock, Ultimute seat with back rest, Airwing, Michelin tire (rear), Grip puppy, Smoothspyder, Upgraded light, extra brake light, Spot tracker, Easy pass (toll), XM satellite, Two brothers exhaust, and Bead rider that in my opinion make the biggest difference. Rode an average of 16 hrs a day. Rode highway and use truck stop, for fuel, food, water, bathroom all in one stop. Stop every 125 to 140 miles depending of gas need. Rent motel room every night, for a rest of 4 to 5 hrs. We had 95% of the time good weather witch help. We had 30 degrees to 90 degrees temp. West of Amarillo Texas, when they say severe thunderstorm, they do mean it. Overall it was an awesome experience, and glad I done it. I am 62 years young. Total miles was 8294. It took 9 days 9 hrs. and 17 minutes. :ani29:

:congrats: I did my Ironbutt on my Victory Vision. I don't see that it would any harder or easier to do on my Spyder. I might just do it again just for the heck of it

Did you do the 48 10? I hope you have chance to do it some day. It's awesome to finish and be able to say I done it.

I have done the SS1000 and Bun Burner 1500 on the RT and then the SS1000 on the F3. Have scheduled the SS2000 for Sept 2/3 on F3 and plan to do at least one ryde per month for 12 months to qualify for MileEater Silver. Also plan to do the 50CC (Jacksonville to San Diego in 50 hrs) by early next year.... No 48 10 on my schedule for now - too much time away from home at one shot since my wife doesn't like long distance ryding.

Congratulation, and keep on going. My next iron But ride will be the Bun burner 1500 gold, witch is 1500 miles in 24 hrs. IBM# 61125

Kind of surprised you don't have an aux gas tank. My Goldwing trike held about 10 gallons total with an aux tank and that greatly extended seat time not to mention gave me more peace of mind where gas stations got to be far and few between. My Spyder (2010 RT) gets about 27-31 mpg and I seem to be stopping all the time for gas. Anyway, best of luck and I do love to hear about epic rides. Get you one of those helmet cams and take some pics! wg

It help to stop every 130 miles or so to fuel up. Walk around, bathroom, food, water. We did plan that way, so cramping and monkey butt were not an issue. Lots and lots of water. :ani29:

Big Congrats

Did my Saddlesore 1000 with my old Victory Vision. Now with the Spyder contemplating if I want to do other endurance rydes or just cruise the scenery.

If you went through Texas, I can imagine hydration is key. It has been pretty brutal for the past month or so. Day temps at my place are around 105 with hot wind from the south carrying a bit of humidity. Let me praise the GOOD LORD for the invention of A/C! I had to work outside a few hours yesterday afternoon and was totally zonked by dinner.
