• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CB transmission fix update

We have had a problem with our CB from the start and believe it is now fixed!
Hats off to Doug's Powersports Unlimited in Cortland NY and BRP for working together to fix it.
it was really a simple fix which makes me even more unhappy with the dealer I bought it from----a large Florida dealer. All the bolts holding the various grounds were loose, especially the one under the left front cover that held some sort of plate holding a resistor(?). Todd, the service manager believes that is the one that caused the engine noise when transmitting as it is real close to the spark plug wires etc. Some of the bolts were only finger tight! We had some previous success in reducing the noise problem by setting the CB squelch and mike vol at their lowest settings. Also put the CB on local not distance.

I did ask if the loose bolts could have come from vibration ( we have 4000 miles on it) and he said no. He was too polite to say---- dealer set up!
 
Most CB problems are caused by poor grounding. In some cases even the radios will require additional grounding from the radio case to stop feedback noise. For as old as CB technology is you would think all maufacture's would know how to build units that were simple and trouble free, but that's not the case. I have even had two identical radios and antennas need different ground requirements on bikes. Don't ask why, cause I can't figure it out.
 
More details please on where exactly the bolt that was probably the issue? We had the CB antenna and AM/FM Antenna cable from module to antenna upgraded with a newer one (supposedly better shielded). We also had the upgraded newer ground straps for the AM/FM and CB antennas installed. they were 2 x the thickness (they are braided ribbon type) ground straps. no help. then they grounded out the actual CB Module case somehow (still have not pulled plastic to confirm where) but that did cut the noise being sent out with the transmission of the CB going OUT. it cut it by 30% or so that now people can understand what we are saying better.

so next would be to start looking for lose grounding points.

There are two main battery ground locations. Here is the LH front main battery ground location. You can see it from the front just above the A-arm. The other is the RH rear gas tank bolt that is under the seat.
