CB, Radio, GPS & Phone Success - ANYONE?

There are multiple threads that discuss the cb, radio, GPS and phone problems. I would like to try to focus the attention of this thread to trying to solve a universal problem which seems to be:

GETTING THE CB, RADIO, GPS AND PHONE TO ALL WORK TOGETHER THRU THE HELMET USING A COMBINATION OF BLUETOOTH AND/OR THE DIN CONNECTOR.

There are many aftermarket "Bluetooth Comm Systems" but not all are 100% compatible with each other. Same applies to the various brands and types of helmets and respective 3rd party comm systems. Whereas the CB is universal to all other CB units (like other motorcycles and truckers) & has a greater range.

For me personally, I have all the possible harnesses (entertainment, communications, ect) on my 2010 RTS and all were dealer installed (no missing pieces). I can Bluetooth the phone to the Zumo 600 GPS and then the Zumo to the helmet (Nolan Trilogy with n-com bluetoothkit2) and all is good. BUT, cannot use the CB or hear radio/XM in my helmet because the Spyder entertainment system has no Bluetooth. Plugging into the DIN connector and then plugging into the helmet disconnects the boom mic from the phone. I can still answer a call and hear the other party but cannot speak to them as well as hearing the radio.

So share your success and failures and lets see IF we as a Spyder Community can devise a universal fix that solves this for everyone - including BRP.

So what's the secret, mine has never worked correctly either! I have everything they tell me I need but still no Bluetooth (phone). Only thing I have not verified is the interface kit P/N 219400390

Thanks for your effort to get a fix.

My problem has been -- and IS -- that when someone calls me on my Iphone or when I dial someone on my Iphone, I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me.

My setup is the BRP CB/Radio/GPS/Iphone hard wired connection on a 2013 RT-S. When I owned my 2008 GS, I has a Sena headset and got music, GPS and phone calls fairly reliably. But when I got the new RT, I decided that I would go with the hard-wired headset.

Some have suggested that my settings are wrong, or that the cable from the system to the Iphone is faulty. I have tried many other settings and have tried another cable but with the same result. Btw, if the caller is near the bike both of us can hear perfectly. But a block away, neither of us can hear the other. This DOES suggest that it has to do with the settings on the CB but I have yet to find the perfect one.

It is strange to me that someone hasn't figured this out. On my bike, it is only the Iphone (and not the Ipod part of the Iphone which provides excellent music) that fails me.

I hope you get accurate and helpful responses. I just haven't found the perfect settings for mine.

When I installed my system there is an interface cable that goes into the radio, this cable can be stalled backwards as both ends are the same and....BRP wrote the instruction wrong showing the cable to hook to the lower plug. Reversing the cable solved all my problems and my system works great except for the radio playing while speaking on the phone which is a design flaw from the manufacturer. Yes it cuts out but there is some overlap and its just plain annoying. The volume has to be up to hear the caller but this keeps the music up as well. If I disconnect the Ipod, then I can switch to this position when using the phone but of course I then do not have my Ipod available for music.

The solution would be a remote disconnect so I bought a remote Ipod controller but... as soon as you install the interface you loose the multiswitch controls on the handlebar and you can no longer see the Ipod symbol on the dash or the name of the song playing. What we need is an single off/on button that would turn off the audio to the Ipod but allow all the other pins to pass on through. Suggestions?

Switch the mic setting from MIX to MUTE.

What were ur problems? Can u post the instructions from BRP that were wrong? This would help all to read & understand better what u r talking about.

Boy, I must be the lucky one today because I had everything installed by my dealer and it actually all works. Even my
iphone. I have the factory wired system. Connected to my Aria helmets. I did however install the J&M cb antenna upgrade and it was well worth the install time and money. I can make and receive calls using my iphone as well.

But basically, the instructions tell the installer to connect the interface into the wrong plugs of the CB radio and the Entertainment Harness. When the interface cable is not connected to the correct plugs, the mic on the face of the GPS device is live, not the helmet mic. The text says to connect to the lower connector but the picture is of the upper connector. The upper connector is the correct plug.

AND if you have a 2010 RT, the cellphone interface will only work IF you have had the instrument cluster replaced with a updated one. BRP replaced them on the 2010 due to the PTT button sticking and the new cluster is compatible with the cellphone interface.

:bowdown:Stevefive has nailed it! Thanks again Steve, I read all the radio instructions but never thought to check the CB instructions. I have looked and played with the mute setting but never left it muted for fear of creating another problem. I now understand its purpose.. mute music while talking on the phone! I am heading to Reno for a week at the end of the month and this will allow me to call my wife as I travel (I am traveling solo and she worries, lol).
