There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. CB or Sena 20S for 2014 RT limited?

Questions

New member
We are debating between a CB system and a Sena 20S for our new bike. I want to listen to music, talk with each other, take phone calls etc.. We have joined a group that has some goldwings in it and they all seem to have CB'S. I understand that with Bloothtooth in order for us to talk with others in the group they would need to be on a bluetooth system.

Any thoughts on which is better?

Thanks,

As you see, I have a Gold Wing and a 2014RT-L. Both have CBs. My 2011 RT-S had a BRP CB as well. The Gold Wing CB is 4X better than the BRP CBs. Both of my BRP CBs have/had very poor transmission and not much better receive. I know nothing about the Sena 20S but the BRP units are expensive, 1.5 times of a GW. I have put a grounding strap on my Spyder's CB and installed a J&M antenna yesterday...but have not tried it out yet. I have no expectations it will improve performance much. Good luck.

My wife recently picked up a 15 RT Limited and are also wondering about ordering the cb package for it. We ride with a number of other riders that have cb's and even though we have scala riders all my wife can communicate with is me. I have a J&M cb on my scoot and can relay to her, but that doesn't work if I am not along. How well does the integrated system work on the 15's? I understand the antenna probably sucks, but I installed a firestick no ground plane antenna on mine and it made a huge difference, I am assuming I could do the same thing on the Spyder.

To the OP; The Sena's will work great but your communication will be limited to each other or others that happen to have Sena's and have been paired with yours. One down fall is you can only have an open mike with four units at a time, so it a 5th wants to get on one of the 4 has to drop out. I think you can be connected to 9 at a time making it fairly easy to drop one or add one of the 4 open units. Confused yet? Sena also has a unit that will blue tooth to a handheld CB, but I have never seen one work yet, but that may be an answer for what you are looking for. If we already had Sena's I would consider tying that.

I did try doing a search of this site for CB radio info, not much there, I am guessing they aren't too popular with the spyder crowd.

I installed a J&M cb on our 2014 RTS and it works very good. I had to make the mounting bracket and I used
J&M;s antenna and there head sets and the music is great and the rider passenger communication is good also,
but haven't talked on it yet but I can pick up lots of talk from others on the air.

UClear bluetooth

Has anyone had any experience with the UClear HBC200. It is a boomless bluetooth sytem. The UTube videos make it look and sound great.

I would be interested in feedback for the Uclear. Have a scorpion modular helmet and the boomless mic feature seems the way to go.

I have the Uclear 200, and I like the boom less mic feature. the wife and I can be anywhere within 30 feet of each other and still talk. any questions, call me. 865-254-7384.

I installed the J&M antenna on Mr. Cognac. It improved my transmission distance to 1,000 ft vs 3-400 and the receive to about 1/4 mile or so. Still poor compared to my Gold Wing. I ride with a group and lead and sweep so I like the CB....poor as it is. If I did not need it for my group rides, I would pass on it.

I was told that BRP is not much interested in a decent CB....not popular in Canada and different laws in the US frequencies (11 meters in US) and Canada....true, I don't know.....but their CB is POOR at best.
