• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. CB noise

When my buddy tries to use his CB on his RT Limited to talk with me on my Goldwing, my transmission to him is crystal clear. When he tries to transmit back, it's full of noise (wind noise?). He has a BRP headset on a HJC 3/4 helmet (HJC IS-33).

Still learning the controls as he has only 600 miles on the bike.

Any ideas are appreciated in advance.

I don't have a RT...but I do have a RS with a J & M cb....if the intercom is on I get alot of back noise...turn it off and all is good...maybe some RT riders will chime in

What year is the bike ??

The 2010 had a problem with the PTT buttons that caused a lot of static and squealing for as much as 10 seconds when the PTT button was released.

Does your buddy have a trailer & the BRP trailer hitch & wiring harness? Does the noise only happen while pulling the trailer and not happen when not pulling the trailer? (I know, strange questions)

I had this same problem that was tied to my trailer wiring harness that came with the BRP trailer hitch. It only manifested while I was pulling the trailer. Fred Rau told me he had the same problem & someone noticed that his trailer lights (left blinker, I think) flickered while he transmitted. He reported this to BRP & they traced it to a bad ground in that wiring harness.

My dealer replaced that wiring harness because my F7 fuse kept blowing, which was the circuit my trailer lights and reverse actuator used (may have been a related issue). It turns out that it also fixed the CB transmission static problem.

Does anyone NOT have a CB transmission problem?? If so, what are your setting for squelch, intercom and mike??

Though it transmitted OK, would 38 days in the shop count as a problem? Lost audio in both the headset and external speakers plus AM/FM audio in the headset. Five and a half weeks for BRP to solve the problem.

38 days in the shop is definitely a problem. Sorry that happened.

I find it hard to believe nobody has not had a similar problem with the noise.

Does he have a cell phone plugged in?

Here's what happened to me... my husband and I communicate with the BRP CB Communication system - put in my the dealer. I had terrible static and interference. Even effected Toms CB when he was near me. (if I remember correctly) I called dealer too... they had not idea what the problem could be - turned out that when the CB was installed the antenna was to close to my cell phone jack in the trunk. When I plugged in the charger for my cell phone (which I always did) I had this terrible static and noise. My husband and I figured this out just by accident... he's pretty sharp when it comes to stuff...
What we ended up doing was adding a 12v charge in the front compartment for my cell phone. Something to do with the cell phone waves...
So see if he is using the 12v jack in the back at the same time.

I did not find that the Squelch, intercom & mike settings had much to do with the noise if anything. But I keep mine a bit more then halfway up - and volume 3/4 way up.

I'm glad to see someone else has the same problem, I don't mean I'm glad, but the gang I rie with complain that my tranmission has a lot of stagic, clear but bad, and the ptt talk will not release right away either. If i flick the ptt it will clear. No problem with intercom works well. Is this something we can fix on our own or do we have to take it to the shop? I hate to tie the bike any longer than I have to, seem like everything I take the bike in for it's a couple of days. Please any help will do.

I called several dealers about the problem and got mixed reaction from dunno to maybe a bad headset. One dealer did take the time to really check it out(without actually having the bike) and thought maybe a noise suppressor was left out or incorrectly connected.

Taking it in for the first maintenance checkup so we'll see.
