• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Cave Man installing Fog Lights

Well I started today and only completed what I call part one - removal/dismantling of Spyder. It took me 3 hours with lunch break, walking back and forth from garage to computer to check Lamonster how to's relative to BRPs and a few bathroom breaks (I'm old).

All O'K so far - just one two inch slice of thumb. Tomorrow - final part 2 of work- the hard part.

I've attached3 photos that show all parts removed from Spyder and now naked front end, just in case you might want to do this yourself-maybe even feel better about what a dealer would charge you.

I agree on Lamonster tips - - I picked up on two, that helped with removing connectors to lights and wiring connector for fog light switch.

I should have just printed out Lamont's and saved some time when comparing to BRP-BRP details in some areas was a help-like O'K cave man place fog light switch cable through mounting hole before wiring connector.

If it works first try I will be amazed-I would not bet on this cave man's 1st attempt.

 Wow... Props to you for doing it yourself! I'd be afraid of goofing something up. I had the dealer install mine, which is probably a good thing. (especially after seeing all the pieces layed out!,

Sorry to hear about your thumb, hope it wasn't too bad that it needed stitches!

No, not yet . . . . .

. . . . if you were old, you would have also had to take a nap. That plaid blanket looks pretty comfortable.

Besides avoiding the cost, I would much rather do these things myself too. I always like checking out everything to make sure it looks "right", even to this caveman.

By the way, VERY clean Spyder.

I just did mine too last weekend. Did both BRP HID headlamps and fog lights with new harness. It's not too bad after all. You'll feel good that you did it yourself and not just for the $$$, it's knowing your :spyder: inside and out. Good luck on your phase 2 install. :ohyea:

My wife's Spyder already had the fog lights installed before we ever walked into the dealership. We're glad they're on it & I'm glad I didn't have to do it myself, but would have if they weren't already there.

Good luck on the install!

Having my morning coffee - getting ready to start phase 2 - wish me luck I'll need it.

Thank you for all the encouragement. I do love the adventure and seeing what this bike is made of and how it is made. Amazing for just two fog lights.

Maybe future year models will include some of these type options as stock.

It is amazing with all the stuff off I still cannot get a good look at the engine. Frame/structure and that gigantic air box in the way:(

:coffee: Glad to hear that you are having some fun. I also installed my fog lights. It only took me five hours! One hour was spent fixing the mistake I made putting the wires on the connector backwards! :gaah:
It is definitely strange looking at a :spyder2: without the front tupperware on!

Only piece of advice I can offer is don't rush!

Cave Man failed - at least for now.

Bike runs all other functions work except fog lights. Fuse already in fuse box-changed it anyway.

Questions: 1. Should the light in fog light switch always be lit. Mine never lights up pushed or not.
2. Is fog light switch a momentary switch- mine seems to be.

3. Wiring of fog light switch connector: Red on switch goes to blue/purple line of mating connector. Blue of switch goes to Black of mating connector. Black of switch goes to red and other black goes to yellow of mating connector.

Any help greatly appreciated.

My buddy did the change and he isn't a mechanic. But he did have a problem. He couldn't the lights to work. Instead of calling me then. He back track and the wiring again and still no lights. So he calls me. tells me that he hasn't got lights. He turned on the key switch and the dash lights come on, but no head or fog lights. I asked if he started the bike up. He said NO. I told him to start the bike up. Bam the lights work. Boy was the mad. after checking a re-checking the wires. The lights never come on until the bike is running. Lights are a big drew on the battery.
