There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Carrying Extra Oil

I would appreciate hearing the views of 2014 RT Spyder owners with lots of mileage -- on the roadsters, not the bodies -- on the need to carry extra oil on an extended jaunt, namely to Spyderfest, which will be 1,800+ miles round trip not including riding at the event. I have 4,200+ on the clock now, first oil change done, and no oil use whatsoever. No, a quart doesn't take up much room and I'm sort of a minimalist, but is better safe than sorry a wise course of action with the 1330 engine? Thank you.

Well..!!

If you have the room, I would carry a qt in a ziplock bag. You may need to top off but doubt it but could help a fellow V-twin ryder along the way...

Even though the 1330 doesn't use as much oil as the 998 I would still carry a quart. Even if you don't use it you may come across someone else who may need it.

I made the round trip from NJ to Daytona on a 14 RTS and used no oil at all. Identical bikes may vary, but once you establish that your's doesn't use oil carrying a quart is unnecessary.

Thanks very much for the two tips about other Spyder riders who might be in need -- more than enough justification to have a quart with me. Traveling solo I never gave it a thought.

approaching 26,000 miles on my 2014 RT-S and never had the need to add oil, but i always carry extra oil on a trip, just in case i or someone else needs it.

(I also carry extra, fuel, brake fluid, fuel enhancer, Anti-Freeze, water, Tire repair, battery booster, fuses etc, I have a case made specifically for these items.)

Carrying an extra quart is a good idea. We have one 998 and one 1330. The 1330 does not use oil, but the 998 does. Was not able to find the right oil when we went to Homer a couple years back. Had to buy second best.

Also, being able to help another is good.:yes:

Fluids

Cruzr joe also carries spare whisky; no chance that won't get broken into!
1330 motor is oil tight, and burns none. It is nice to have on trips, as some one normally needs it. We carry a quart.

Never know when it might get cold out and you need something to warm your innards.:thumbup::thumbup:

Have changed my oil twice on my '14 and hasn't used a drop. Now when I used to travel with my '10...every 600-800 miles she would need about 8-10 oz. When I did my long trips on '10 I literally carried 6-8 qts with me. I'm at 17k+ on '14 and never used a drop...I've got 2200 to SF...doubtful that I will need oil. But I still will carry a QT just "in case"...see you at SF...countdown...I leave here in 11 days...whoop whoop.

Used to carry a quart on long trips, but I never needed it. Gave it to a person at SITS a few years ago. It seems that if you have a few extra, you will never need them, if you do not, you will. Have used the Baker buildt air ride kitcompressor a on four occassions for others
