• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Carrying extra gas in a container

I have read somewhere on this forum that someone makes a gas container to fit in one of the saddlebags on the RT Limited. However, I am unable to find that reference. Anyone know where I can find that gas container?

I have a Reda. Used it one time...the saddle bag smelled like gasoline! I haven't used it since. Makes a wonderful garage ornament!! :gaah:

Filling it to near the top helps with that. And I'm being very obvious here, make sure the cap is very tight.

Besides the REDA cans, the Rotopax works well if you have a trailer or want to carry the gas in the front trunk.

The Roto Pax doesn't leak or emit gas vapors.

RotoPax is made for off-roading, either mounted to the 4-wheeler or trailer. This is why it is built tougher. You can get a 1-gallon for around $50. I lies flat in the right side bag or sits upright and snug in the bottom back of the frunk. A real efficient use of space. One warning though - before filling up the can, get used to how dispensing works. This will save you some angst when using it the first time with the can full. There is a release mechanism on the spout.

I use a small 1 gallon gas can that fits nicely in the side bag and allows addition room for a quart of oil, rags and detail spray. It seals great and no odor. Cost me $7 and I used it just recently when a planned gas stop found the station out of business and the next one 70 miles down the road.

I get ragged from time to time about carrying spare gas, that is until someone runs out of gas and they are not near a gas station.

Anyone ever try the MSR bottles and have feedback as to how well they work? I was thinking at least carry one or two of 30oz. bottles on a trip.

Did you read the posts in the link you posted? They say it's not a good idea to store ethanol blended fuels in them long term but otherwise they work
Pardon my blanket statement about a no-go. My ethanol free stations are limited, but I guess all you need is one, huh?
