• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Carrying extra gas in a container

Spare Gas Can!

I have read somewhere on this forum that someone makes a gas container to fit in one of the saddlebags on the RT Limited. However, I am unable to find that reference. Anyone know where I can find that gas container?

Ken

I have a 2008 GS I have used an empty, clean, 2.5 or 5 pound dry Chemical fire extingusher. It seals great, can withstand a lot of pressure and it worked for me, and didn't leak. Besure to label it so no one will try and use it for an extingusher.

I just used a 2 gallon gas can from wally world and made sure the top was secure. It stayed in the frunk the whole trip to Maggie Valley... I almost got to use it myself.

Edit: no gas smell in frunk.

RotoPax is made for off-roading, either mounted to the 4-wheeler or trailer. This is why it is built tougher. You can get a 1-gallon for around $50. I lies flat in the right side bag or sits upright and snug in the bottom back of the frunk. A real efficient use of space. One warning though - before filling up the can, get used to how dispensing works. This will save you some angst when using it the first time with the can full. There is a release mechanism on the spout.[/QUOTE]

The above is so so true. I just ordered a "vented spout" from Roto Pax. Cost is about $10.00. That other "eco spout" that comes with the can is a pain in the ole wazoo. I opted to go simple.

Thank our government regulators for that. Gas cans can no longer be sold with the simple spouts. Even the Walmart cans have that crappy complicated leaker for a spout these days. If you cary one with the safety spout, bring along some nitrile gloves.

I really don't want to thank the idiots who forced stupid gas can spouts, toilets that don't flush, propane tanks that won't flow enough gas to boil a crawfish pot and what ever. The worst part is we will never go back to things that work properly only forge on making things more difficult to use. But it is our fault in the end... we sent them there to do this to us.

.....and sadly, we keep sending them back.

I just reamed out the spouts so they are free flowing, Makes it easy to use.

The latest versions have a butterfly valve and no cap or any other way to seal them off so if you gut it out your screwed. I was lucky to have some old gas cans and stole the spout from one of them with the cap.
