Carry extra gas - new Gas Can

My husband found this neat new gas can for my RT. It is custom made for saddlebags. It is 100% vapor and spill proof and it is EPA & CARB certified. It only cost $29.99. Pictures show without anything in the saddlebag and then with my raingear that I always carry in that saddlebag. We have tested it and it works as advertised. We tried it also in his HD and a GL1800 and a GL1500 and it fit in all of the saddlebags. Now he can't leave me behind when I run out of gas!:clap:

Is it multipositional like the attached, so it doesn't leak.

I like it. :thumbup: It could obviously go in either saddlebag or both. Where did you get it?

Is your frunktank custom? And how do you remove it to fuel and refuel? Capacity? Is that an RS or RT?

Gas Can

This is made to fit in a saddlebag, therefore the fill would be up. With that said; when my husband tested this gas can he filled it up with a gallon of water and layed it over on its side and no leak, stood it up on its end, fill spout down no leak and then put the spout in the can as you would to fill your tank with no leak. When you move the green sleeve to allow the fuel to be emptied there is no leak when you stop the fuel flow. He got the gas can from REDA-Innovations. I think he said they have free shipping ??? You might have to ask on that.

I would like to know how to get two of those gas cans. A friend and I are considering a ride to James Bay this summer and I will need to go as long as 225 miles between fuel stops. I am not certain that I want to make the trip but those gas cans solve one problem.

They do look like a good option for trips where you are going more than 150 miles between gas stations. Would be good for some of the extra long rides in Alaska (re: top of the world highway, etc) where there are few or no gas stations. I also am a little uneasy about hauling extra gas, as a safety issue for regular rides though.

I know I'm sorta the exception on this, but I'm lucky to get more than 21mpg's, so that means I can only go 100 miles before my gas light is on & I'm ray: for a gas station.

I'm sure these tanks will work just fine without leaking. But I have to say here, that water IS NOT gasoline! :yikes:

For a number of reasons, water is not necessarily a good test for gasoline retention.

In other words, just because the water didn't leak does not necessarily mean gasoline won't leak.

A little birdie told me this.... that and a lot of years in the fire service!

I can see where an extra fuel supply could be handy. The last trip I had on the Blue Ridge Parkway with my HD Ultra Classic got me rather worried when my gas guage was hovering over the E. I finally found a gas station running on fumes. A spare one gallon gas container would have made my ride that day a little less stressful.

Another Questuion

When I ride to spyderfest, I am gonna carry this in the trailer, It holds
2 1/2 gallons. If I was to run out of fuel, I know people talk about fumes,
but if I was to run out, does the bike start to sputter or do you instantly
shut down??

And when you are putting the new gas you carried with you is
there anything else you have to do, or it will just start up no problem?
