Can't decide between a Spyder RT or a Harley/Honda Trike. HELP

I like both of my scoots. Ride demo's and chose what you like. Don't ask me, you are the one who has to ride it. I am on my second Spyder. My 2014 is much nicer than my 2011 was. My '02 Gold Wing has never been in the shop for repair, one recall. Good luck.

:spyder2:

In my unbiased, but wonderful opinion, buy the Spyder, it is the best three wheeler out there.

Test drive a Tri-Glide and you will see exactly what I am saying above. The :ani29: is much more sophisticated with its VSS and other bells and whistles.

A Honda trike will kill any Honda warranty. Since the factory does not make them, trikeing them voids it. Many dealers will not even work on a triked GoldWing.

There is also the Triumph Rocket three factory trike. This is the only one I am not familiar with.

Enjoy your hunt, but buy the :spyder2: No Joke.
:agree: the :spyder2: is best three wheeler out there WOHOO! Buy the Spyder, Buy the Spyder. Also, my first spyder was a 2012RTS-SE5, and I am also on my 2nd spyder which is a 2014RTS-SE6 . Deanna

I've had both a Harley TriGlide and a Spyder RT Limited. For me the Spyder wins hands down for many reasons: Comfort, no engine heat, quality of ride, quality of cornering, performance, safety, etc. But none of this matters until you experience it yourself; what I say makes no difference. I've had two wheel bikes for decades (still have two BMWs) and went to a TriGlide where it took me a few hundred miles to get used to the riding and driving differences. After a few thousand miles on the TriGlide I went to the Spyder. It took me me a few hundred miles to really get used to it and about 2000 miles to be completely in love with it. Many other Spyder riders told me it would be this way, but I didn't get it until "I got it".

Good luck,
Rob

Hello,

I just recently got my M3 license in Va. I took the test riding a Spyder, but I also have riddent a Harley Trike and liked both.

Trying to break down the Pro's and Cons of both. I am a little concerned on the electrical components of the spyder. Any and all information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but if you were pushing the Wing around the dragon as hard as you were pushing the Spyder, there were lots of folks waiting behind you on the wing. Wing and Harley trikes cannot get out of their own way on a twisty road. Cannot even start to keep up with a group of Spyders. Its not even close. No steering, no brakes, no sale.

I have to agree! Conventional trikes cannot keep up with a Spyder in the twisties. The wheels are at the wrong location to make this even remotely possible.

The Spyder is designed and built from the ground up as a (reverse) trike. All other trikes out there are modified two wheelers. That says a lot right there.

Anyway, I drove a number of other trikes before buying the Spyder, and the Spyder was far more stable, comfortable, and easy to ride. It really makes a difference when you can see where your two wheels are.

Can't decide?

Before I bought my 2014 Pearl White RT-S on Just 6th 2014, I had a 2007 BMW K1200LT Hannigan conversion. It was quite stable in curves and rode nice. But I could feel every little crack in the pavement. This is a motorcycle converted, not meant to have 3 wheels. It started using front tires, 1500 miles and it needed another, for me it was 2 or 3 tires a month, yes, a month. I decided to try a Spyder. One ride and I bought. It handles different with 2 front wheels but a superior ride. Now I have 30,120 miles and never regretted buying. Don't spend your cash on a conversion, you'll end up on a Spyder some day.:firstplace:

OK after 28 years on Harleys and 46 on two wheels, went with the Can am F3S. Wife has RT. In my years riding the three wheels with two in the back will not take the turns as good as two in the frount. Pure geometry, with that said how do you ride and is it a must to get though the turns. On two wheels we would have to wait for our buddy on a Gold wing trike to get though the turns. When we took my wifes RT buddys on baggers who know how to ride could not pull away on us. The Cam am would hang with the best of them. Not saying they will hang with a sport bike but a bagger yes. So in my golden years I would go with the Can am Hope this helps enjoy the ride . Jim

Ditto on Posts 1-5. I went through the same mental process in 2010. After months of riding and re-riding each, I pulled the trigger on an 09 RS. I put 27K on it and bought a 12 RT. it has almost 35K. I never looked back. The Spyders have been 2 of the best investments I've made in life. I also have a friend who has ridden a HD trike for many years. He final got the courage to ask me to take my Spyder for a spin. He came back grinning ear to ear. His first comment was to compare the HD trike to driving a dump truck and the Spyder was like a sports car. He hasn't gotten the courage to buy a Spyder out of terror of what his HD friends would say. Go with what YOU like best and the H--- with the rest.

I know for a fact there is a member here, and I met him at Spyderfest that his family owns a Honda car and Motorsports dealership..No Spyder dealership...Guess what he rydes?...Yep,a spyder..:ohyea:and he can ryde anything he wants!

Get the Harley. If you get a Spyder, and are not completely satisfied, your Harley buddies are gonna give you hell and raz you all the time. Once you ridden the Harley and see all the downsides that it has, you can easily sell and get a Spyder. That way you in your own mind will be satisfied that you at least tried that "mythical ride", the Harley, that would put you in touch with all the biker world, but found out that it wasn't what it was cracked up to be. You will then have no reservations to "going over to the dark side" and getting something that doesn't have HD written on it.

Are you daft mann???

If ya haven't read enough about what the opnion is on this highly biased site then you need to buy two in Front. Though you'll soon sell it as the :spyder2:'s out turn ya and out run ya.

If ya don't buy the :spyder2: there will be::::

I just sold my Honda Goldwing to go to a Spyder RT. I have the V twin 990 series motor and so far have found it to be the most fun since I left 2 wheels. I found the Gold Wing to be more comfortable then the Spyder but those are issues that can be addressed. The Gold Wing needs a rake kit which many manufacturers include in order to steer easily. You can be happy on either of the 3 tho I think the Harley is the most primitive with its solid rear axle and unraked front end. The Spyder has things you can't get on any kit trike at any price. And it is a purpose built trike designed that way from the beginning.

I was facing the same decision a month ago, until I took the Harley Tri-Glide for a demo. I felt like I was operating a bulldozer. I bought my 2015 Spyder RT-S a week later, and I am very glad I did. Out of the five motorcycles I've owned over 38 years of riding, I have never owned a Harley. I have demoed them, but have never found a good reason to buy one.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was nine I've been ryding now ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435624988.793283.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1435625014.327929.jpgproximately 50 years I have a Harley,I'm selling it. I have two F3's now. Because of numbness associated with diabetes in my feet I've opted to go to the F3 been riding my whole life like I said so this is a natural crossover for me. Girlfriend and I will never go back to the Harley's, or any other 2 wheeler. These F3's are just too much fun and you enjoy the ryde so much more. I don't care what other HD Ryder's say or think.

That's a great video, very much on point. I've seen it before and love it. My Harley friends don't care for it though :)
