• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

i recently performed the canisterectomy on my spyder following the direction from the online thread. All went smooth but I have a question. The solenoid line that gets plugged with the bolt, won't plugging that line ultimately cause the solenoid to fail which will in turn throw a code? If it's only purpose is to suck vapors from the cannister what would be the harm in leaving in open to air so that it could still function?

No, the only job of the solenoid valve is to "open and close". It doesn't know if air is passing through it or not. It's the motor that draws air through the valve if the valve is open. If the valve is closed no air passes.

I would not run it with the line open. Blocking the line also helps the bike run slightly richer at times which helps as the spyder is known to run lean.

Running lean increases the heat in the cylinders. Adding additional atomized gasoline actually promotes a cooling effect by absorbing residual heat momentarily, prior to combustion.
Running lean causes detonation (knock), and is especially deadly to forced combustion vehicles such as those with turbocharged engines. Turns pistons into ash trays, which I have seen too many times....

Lean is better for fuel economy and emissions and is typically where the most power is made. TO Lean causes detonation and heat. "lean is mean" is what we heard as kids. Most power but on the edge.

Rich is worse for fuel economy and emissions. Rich is generally safe and cooler as mentioned due to fuel cooling.
TO rich can cause fuel to wash the oil from the cylinder walls causing dilution, gas in oil, as well as a list of other concerns. It's also stinky.....like following a kid driving a Honda civic with an eBay chip installed...haha

Mods involving the purge valve in relation to how it affects fuel management on the Spyder is minimal......subtle, but minimal.

That is one pretty spyder ya got there, my favorite color scheme by far. I call it copperhead orange.

The color is what drew me to it in the first place. I need to update that profile pic, looks quite a bit different with the latest mods. I took off the rear fender and relocated the license plate to the swing arm and just added some awesome new floorboards.
