There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Canadian trailer hitch

Design question

Does this technique of bolting to the rear swing arm good for the machine. I have not seen any hitch connections that connect this way. The connection is always to the frame. I would like to know if this can place a strain on bearings.

This has long been a point of debate out here and many preferred the Bushtec hitch since it doesn't attach to the swingarm. So I would generally agree----

BUT ------

The many thousands of miles now put on these swingarm type hitches has changed my mind and removed such concerns--- not to mention that BRP makes a factory unit that attaches this way.

:agree: but I think there are distinct advantages to the BRP setup, with its patented shock absorbing construction. Less likelihood of damaging the wheel bearings or swingarm bushings that way, IMO.

So exactly what is the 'shock absorbing' part(s)? I've looked at them and didn't see anything that special. Rubber bushings?

In addition to the poly pads inside the bracket, there are urethane bushings in "Y", where the bolts pass through, with sleeved rubber bushings inside those. Stop over and I'll show you the guts of one.

I forgot one item. When you install the bracket with the axle bolt, you can still use that black plastic cap to cover the nut/cotter pin.

Nothing unusual about the install -- very easy to do. Axle bolt has already been discussed. The 5 pin to 4 pin that I bought was the better one for $44.95 ("175")

PS: I received mine in 6 days.

With a hitch like this, I would consider getting one and a trailer again. Just for the long haul trips. I like that you can leave the bracket on and take the hitch itself off of the spyder. It is something to consider, that is for sure.

You'll see it at the UP ryde....Oh and Maggie Valley too.

Have to ask again. Does anyone know if this will work with a 08 gs ? Also has anybody been in contact with this individual via e-mail ?? Have lot of questions and do not have e-bay account! Very interested. Thanks.

Yup. I'll be putting one on my 08 when I put new tires on.
