• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can someone explain fully the 4 modes on a 900 rally

My understanding is
1. Eco. Full traction control
2. Normal. Full tc
3. Sport- no tc?
4. Rally? Off road but what does it do?

Are the turning computer nannies still on with sport or rally?

I’ve not found full definitions of what each mode has on or off online.

Found this on that there web thingie ...

VSS and Modes - The Ryker is equipped the Vehicle Stability System (VSS) like the Spyder. The VSS consists of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS) and the Stability Control System (SCS). The Ryker 900 has the ability to select from three different riding modes; Standard, Eco and Sport. In Standard Mode, the VSS systems operate as set up from the factory giving a good balance between ride performance, stability and economy. The Eco Mode reduces fuel consumption by limiting throttle response and maximum throttle opening making for a smoother cruising speed. The rear wheel will spin quite easily in either the Eco or Standard on a quick throttle as long as you go straight. Turn the handlebars and the Traction Control System kicks in to reduce the rear wheel spin. Sport Mode allows for significantly more rear wheel spin and a higher handlebar turning angle giving a drifting-like experience. The road type and surface condition determine the amount of drifting that can happen. Of course, consider where you may be using the Sport Mode and the surrounding conditions. I did most of my test riding in the standard mode and found it more than adequate for my style of riding. Note: The Ryker 600 does not have a Sport Mode and the Rally Edition has an additional Rally Mode for use on loose gravel or unpaved roads. These handling and mode options make the Ryker a “Ride Like No Other” and even more fun to ride.

PS - looks like the rally mode is just another "sport" mode that limits wheel spin?

Same as on the Spyder models with Mode Selection, there is NO Mode selection that completely turns Traction Control or the rest of the VSS suite OFF!! As mentioned (& quoted) above, apart from ECO mode, which effectively only varies the throttle limits & opening control, all the other various Modes do is change how much Traction Control there is & vary the Steering Angles allowed before other VSS intervention. :rolleyes:

- Standard is the basic setting for both Traction Control & VSS Intervention;
- Sport reduces Straight Line Traction Control just a little, without changing the Steering limits on VSS intervention; while
- Rally Mode reduces Straight Line Traction Control even more AND it increases the range of the Steering limits where that Traction
. Control reduction can be exercised, albeit only by a fairly small amount, before the VSS suite steps in & the Nanny intervenes.

But ALL the Mode selections retain a fairly high degree of Traction Control, with the actual limit depending upon which Mode you're in; and apart from that, the VSS suite remains fully functional across the board, only with a slightly wider range of Steering Angle allowed before Traction Control & other VSS functions step in as programmed to 'keep you safe' when you are in Rally Mode. :lecturef_smilie:

NOTHING about changing Modes will actually turn either the Traction Control or the Rest of the VSS suite completely OFF!! :bdh:

as far as I know, the "Rally" mode works only till 30 miles/hour - so you can turn the handlebars and the VSS does not block the rear wheel when it spins .. I would love this effect on my Standard 900 !!
