Can Anyone ID This Bolt . . . and Where It Goes?

I went to a friend's house, today, to do some wrenching on my 2013 RT. We (mostly him! . . . I stupidvised a lot!) installed my Baja Ron Sway Bar and my bump skid.

When my friend pulled the left side skid plate, this bolt was sitting on top of it :gaah:. Does anyone know where it might be from :dontknow:? This is disconcerting, to say the least. I'm hoping it was something someone dropped, and then installed a new bolt, but . . . I really need to know, as I assume bolts have a purpose, up, inside the Tupperware :banghead:

The characters on the head are R and 8.8

I really hope someone knows where this is supposed to be!

It is the first time I've had them off . . . My Spyder has been in the shop four times: the 600 mile service; the heat recall, last September; the repairs when a hose split on the throttle body in March; and when the dealer did the 2013 service bulletin to waterproof the frunk connections, do the ECM update, and replace the bolts on the belt guard.

It looks similar to the ones that go into the side castings. Where the footpegs are. Where you loosen them up to remove the new panel for oil changes. My dealer last week left one all the way out. Was barely hanging on. But, mine had threads all the way on them. Might take a look there just to make sure?

I've had mine apart pretty far, and I've not come across one that long as of yet.

The 8.8 only refers to the hardness of the bolt, so not really any help there; sorry.

to get to the hose split.... I wonder if they have to remove part of the plastic air intake apparatus ? Your bolts are long, like they go through plastic...no strength IMO going through steel at that diameter of a bolt. Perhaps removing a plastic intake part they dropped one and couldn't find it?:dontknow:

Makes sense to me, but maybe you could swing by, we'll remove that panel again w it jacked up and look if we can see where it came from? I'm here all weekend. Lol

looked it up

it looks like a bolt that holds the frunk hinge to the mounting bracket on the nose of the bike, it is listed as m6 by 110 and is 1.99 dollars a piece

The only bolt that I have removed that looks like that is the one that holds the frunk lid to the hinge. There are two of them on my spyder, both are different lengths.

I'm positive it goes through the left airbox, through the lower steering shaft mount, to the master cylinder upper mount, to the rear sprocket cover to the lower front shock mount!! :yes:
