• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Can-Am Spyder Buyer Regrets

wow. Two years and 10 months from inception of the idea to pulling the trigger....We started talking about the idea on a Wednesday and the F3L was in our garage the next Monday :yikes:

Different strokes........

Great..!

Great review on the path to ownership of your spyder. Knew it would end well from the title and the author ...:clap:Glad it has been a good trip so far....I'm right there with you...no regrets...:ohyea:

Thats about how it went for us. Once my wife decided she “could do this” we had one the next week.

I listened tor a few minutes, when he said it took nearly 3 years to make up his mind about buying it I seriously thought about poking my eyes out with a hot poker! :yikes:

If someone finds value from that video, great! But for me it was just prattling by a person who has an overblown sense of the value to others of his experience. I drew that conclusion after the first couple of minutes! :gaah:

Have to disagree...Took the wife and I about the same amount of time before we took the plunge. For me, the first thing was to test-drive during a "dealer day" locally...as I hadn't ever driven a motorcycle in the past I had to ensure that it was the thing for me. For both of us, the issue was $$$ (which is why we ended up with a 2012 RT-s just three years back, the "right" one came along just as we could afford it!), plus with her seizures had to figure out a way to keep her from falling off....solved that with a set of Corbin armrests and a Velcro-based "chest belt" that keeps her stable long enough to get off the road safely.

Haven't looked back since.

Back in the day...

I was impulsive about motorcycle purchases. At that time I was getting four of the cycle magazines. Cycle World, Motorcycle Cruiser, Motorcycle Consumer Reports, and Rider. I am now down to just Rider.

Each month, I was bombarded with the "latest and greatest." Every once in awhile I bit. Was getting a new motorcycle about every other year in those days.

Saw the :spyder2: mentioned in one of the mags. Sept 2007 issue if memory serves. Said to myself...self...you need one of those. That is different from everything else. Went to my dealer--who just happened to be my Kawi purveyor also. We discussed the :spyder:. Word was out that AK would not get them. They were going to "selectively" sell the 08's--and we were not a chosen state. The dealer was the largest Ski Doo dealer in the country at the time...so I guess he had a little "pull."

Bottom line, I put down $1,500 in October 2007. Ours came in June of 2008. And...the rest is history.

Took me 4 1/2 months to get my Spyder;

-1 month in the hospital after wrecking the Harley, 1 week of which was in the ICU
-3 months of Physical Therapy
-My wife's meltdown when I put down a deposit on another Harley while still on crutches, unable to ride
-2 weeks then trying to get her permission to get another bike (but it had to be a trike)

After receiving that permission had the Spyder in 4 days....:roflblack:

My point was that I was not interested in listening to this guy go on and on and on about his purchase. Blah, Blah Blah....
