• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CalSci Review - Around Town

So I got my CalSci windshield last night (Thanks again NMN) and got it installed and made sure to try it out this morning on my way to work. It was about 38 degree's outside this morning and I only had about a 10 mile ride to get to work all city driving. The CalSci functioned great!!! Normally I have to wear balaclava when its bellow 45 degree's but since it was a short ride and i wanted to test the windshield i decided to leave it in the trunk. To my suprise my face was NOT cold at all in my full face helmet. With the stock shield the wind would be pushed under my helmet and right into my face making it very cold this one however pushed the cold air above my head and left my neck and face comfortable. Wind noise was drastically decreased at the speed i reached around town (55mph max). Something else I noticed was my hands didn't get nearly as cold either. The angled lips on the side of the CalSci near the Mirros seems to deflect wind to the outside of your hands. So for a 1-10 rating of the CalSci for cold weather at moderate speeds i would have to give it a 8.5. Can't give it a 10 till i've had more time to test it out. This afternoon is supposed to be sunny and 65 so i'll be able to give it another review for spring climents later this evening.

:agree: Put mine on saturday and went for a ride only 38 out and i agree it kept my hands some what warmer and a lot less wind noise. I got the tallest one and had a wee bit of trouble to line up the screws. Mind you i did it my self and the instructions say to have someone hold the windshield while someone does the screws. One of the easiest installs to date.:2thumbs:

I had a problem with the screws as well but it wasn't CalSci that caused them. When i looked at the screws Part of the hole was blocked by the black plastic of the console. So in my case it would have happened with any shield i put on there.

I got the Medium shield but i'm only about 5'6"

The screws went in very snuggly when we installed ours. My wife held it for me so that made it a lot easier. If you liked your first ride, you will totally LOVE it on the highway! I use "we" and "our" when I write about "our" Spyder. Thankfully Jennifer loves to ride as much as I do. It is truly "we" and "our" Spyder.

Interstate Ride - 5 miles

Well I just got back from lunch decided to try it out on the interestate and I must say WoW so much improvement. At 75 mph I was able to crack my visor and get a nice little breeze were as the stock windshield made it seem like it was all the way open when only cracked. and it had no head bobling!!!! I will say it was a little noiser on the highway due to the speeds but still no were near as loud as the stock windshield. I did try opening my visor all the way just to see how much wind would be hitting me in the face and i must say it was about the same maybe a little less than the stock shield at all speeds. The one thing that was really great was the wind was not hitting my chest trying to push me off the back of the spyder (with the risers i sit almost strait up) like the stock one would do.

It seems the Medium Windshield on someone about 5'6" the most wind that is going to hit you will be at the top of the head and i was suprised that it did not cause the boble affect by doing this but it didn't!!!!! This is probably the perfect windshield for me being as i'm in the south i want some wind to hit me while moving LOL. Anyone who is my size and doesn't want to feel the wind as much go with the Large other wise the Medium is perfect for those who like a little wind.
