• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Calling all Spyder owners

First Spyder ride

Rode my first Spyder in August, as a demo in New Braunfels, TX - bought my White 2015 Limited RT the same day!! Put my Road Glide on consignment - too heavy to maneuver!
My first real ride, when we picked the Spyder up was a 300 miler and a "get-to-know-my-Spyder" ride. I found it very different from my two-wheeler; a lot to get used too. The Spyder was squirrely, big, every thing you knew about motorcycle handling had to be re-learned and quite frankly, if you took a turn at an increased speed the Spyder was scary [not like a two-wheeler].
Later that same week took "Pony" my Spyder out for another run ended up at Coyote Powersports - added the Baja Ron Sway Bar and Tri-axis handle bars and I was off for a three day ride to the coast with my sister on board. We racked up another 600 miles. This is my "go-to" Tourer!
It takes some getting used to but when you do it's a grand ride!
LOVE my SPYDER!!!!:clap::yes:

My Spyder experience is somewhat different. I triked my '02 Gold Wing due to bad knee in 2005. Picked up my "Motor Trike", rode 20 miles and was in tears.....I asked my self, what have I done to my fine two wheeler? Got home after another 30 miles and said "maybe I can live with this." Rode 500 more miles and love the Motor Trike. In 2011 I rode my Wing over to a dealer and demoed a Spyder and did not like it at all. I went back for a second demo and it was not too bad. Bought the 2011 RT-S and really learned to like it. Kept my Wing as I love it and it runs like a hose. I bought Mr. Cognac a year ago and would not go back to a two wheeler. They are different rides but I love them both. I can not choose between the two so I ride both about the same miles.

:spyder2:

I'll tell you after I drive my new 2016 F3 Limited home from the dealer in April. Just got my license, never as much as a test ride on the Spyder. You guys got me more nervous . . . but in a good way. Just means i'll drive slower and really look like the 60 yr old guy driving down the street. :clap:

I plan to tell you and all about my first ever riding experience when I get my F3. ;)

Thank you

Thank you to all for those who have shared their first riding experiences with me and others on SL. You will all know that I will be getting my first ever spyder the F3-S and what a great start it will be for a introduction into the Spyder world.
I plan to share my first riding experience with you too, when she comes along into my life.
My next post on here will be to share photographs with you of her right from the second she is delivered, as I will await her arrival an hour before she is delivered.
I name all my vehicles and treat them like queens, she will be called Sandra.

Looking forward to sharing the photos of her with you all when she arrives :yes:

Where i live you need to have a trike endorsement on your drivers license. In our state they have approved motorcycle and trike/sidecar training classes that give you the opportunity to take the class and then if you pass the class, you are able to get the endorsement. The best part is the training class SUPPLY the bikes. We took the class and had an RS/S SM5, an ST limited SE5 (plus a Harley trike and a couple sidecar units). They go thru all the procedures etc as if you never ever had a clue what was what on the bike. The had a course laid out in a parking lot. Lots of excercises in braking, turning, evasive maneuvers. Going from the parking lot to the street is a bit different in that you need to get use to more traffic around you. My issue was hugging the center line of the road. I would position my body on the road as if i were driving a car.

Biggest tips...relax your grip. Look THRU the turn to where you want the bike to go and it will make your turns smoother. Dont put yourself in a cars blindspot...ride defensively.
