• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cal-Sci Windshield - Good Results

OK, so back a couple months ago I posted a thread to ask for opinions on the Cal-sci windshields. I received some good feedback on the product from all you serial posters and some not so serial posters. Well, I recently pulled the trigger (you know the day, when you're stuck indoors and you're thinking about farkling-out your ride, and your smart phone and pay pal are in sync) and got the extra wide, large, windshield for my 2014 RT. I decided to try this windshield over the F4, due to price. Removing the old and mounting the new was relatively easy, except Bob is correct, the old windshield gets scratched by the trim piece! The bad part with mounting the new windshield was having to wait to take the spyder for a ride.... Being 20° and/or raining and 40°. Nevertheless, today it was 60°and sunny and I broke that bad boy out of the garage to take it for a 2 hour jaunt. I tried all different speeds and positions and found a perfect height for my liking while hitting the 70+ mph's... Might I say, it left me smiling with good results. I didn't feel the pushing around in the shoulders, or the head like I did with my stock windshield. The airflow through the vent was great, and the airflow above my enormous head (2xl Shoei 1100-rf helmet) was great... No buffeting or pulsating sensation based on that negative pressure bs. Any one considering this windshield won't be disappointed... Good results folks.

Awesome!

I just ordered my XL Cal-sci windshield last week after doing research and getting feedback as well.
I'm glad to hear you are pleased with yours. I feel a bit better about getting one now.
:ohyea:

Any thoughts on how to remove the old one with scratching it?

One practice that i use is after loosening the two screws that hold the outside "plates" slip a piece of wax paper under the "plates" to prevent scratching while removing them.

I put a Cal-Sci on one of my BMWs and loved it - quieter, smoother and absolutely no visual distortion. I will be putting one on my Spyder in the near future.

I watched finless bob's you tube video on removing the windshield and he suggested masking tape or sliding a piece of paper under the molding... I tried both and unfortunately still managed to scratch the darn thing. I didn't care too much because it was going in the cal-sci box. When I put the new one on, I used tape x2 layers and was left with a little bit of tape stuck under the corner. I didn't mind, because it will eventually come off.

Let me know how it goes and what you think of your new windshield!

Is the Cal-Sci windshield a superior design over the other replacement windshield that fit an RT or is it just all about price?

calsci

I like my Calsci for it's simplistic design and function Oh his web site is a very good detailed description of his shield. Had one on my BMW it was great also.

ABQSpyder.
I've only had vented windshields that can be controlled. One question I have has to do with rain. With an always open vent, what do you do when you run into rain?

I guess your asking about rain coming through the hole. I've never had a problem with rain. I totally like my Calsci
It's something that I've bought before and will definitely buy again.
