• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. CA Route 58

We are ryding from Nor-Cal to Las Vegas and thinking about taking CA Route 58 to 15 and then over to Vegas. We want to avoid the cold of the high Sierra or we might go another route. I was hoping some Central Ca, So-Cal, Nor-Cal, Or Nevada Spyder Ryders could fill me in on Road Conditions, traffic, or construction delays along this route. This will be a part of an Iron Butt so we need to move as easily and unrestricted as possible. So if you have another suggested route I would. Love to hear about it. Thanks.

Curious. ....

Did you check google maps or Waze...?? they will show you constructions and delays as well as offer alternate routes....

Depends what day and time you come up 15. It backs up on Sunday going toward Ca and on Friday towards Vegas. To keep moving I would come through Death Valley. Say 395 to Lone Pine and 136 to 190 to Belle Vista Road into Pahrump and 160 either way. North toward US 95 is great and open north or south.

Good info, thanks. We would be there around noon to 2PM on Saturday, and then turning around and heading straight back as this will be a part of 1000 miles in 24 hours trip.

Aren't parts of 58 two lane? I've taken it a few times and it isn't my favorite road. Also, wasn't there a big part of the road that collapsed during a mud slide somewhere around Tehachapi? Like Len said I15 is bad from CA to NV in Friday and the other way on Sunday. Traffic backs up at the Agriculture Checkpoint and around Primm.

We would be leaving on Saturday early AM going through there early afternoon, turning around and heading right back the same day. The goal is 500 out and 500 back and Primm is 509 miles from the starting point, so we may turn around from there. Can you suggest another route say the route that Len suggested? We will have two 2013 998 models with us, an RT and an ST so gas could be a concern. BTW, I hope Joe is doing well. Thinking about you guys.

we rode 58 from atascadero to mojave last week. no problems. somewhat slow thru bakersfield.

Route 58

We always turned off I-5 at Lost Hills and took hiway 46 east over to 99 and then south to 58 east. There are lots of traffic lights between I-5 and 99 if you take hiway 58 through that part.

Great Stuff

Thanks folks keep em coming. We will be ryding down 99 from Sacramento area then across toward Vegas. When you went through Bakersfield, was that during the week. We will be there around 10 or so on Saturday. Did you have any road construction?

The mud slide area is clear and no issue to my knowledge. I agree about staying off of the I15. It sucks pretty much all of the time.
