• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I agree with your skepticism but I'll supply some hard scientific data in a couple of weeks. I'm leaving on a big road trip in 5 days and I will stop by Spyderpops shop in AR and probably will get the skid plate installed in addition to the heat mods. That will give me several hundred miles of highway riding before and after the mod so I will post hard data from all my fill ups before and after.

Appreciate the effort-- but unless you're riding the exact same roads under the exact same conditions shifting exactly the same and running the exact same speeds-- your data will not be accurate enough to determine direct cause of increased or decreased MPG.... it will still be speculation.

There are just too many variables.. in particular the fact that no one can ever fill the tank up the same twice... especially considering how strange these tanks are.. they hold about 7 gal but you can only use around 6... very strange indeed.

As long as you average the effect over several tanks of gas, most likely the errors due to other factors will average out. Yeah there is variation in wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, fill level, throttle behavior, etc but if I go through 500 miles of similar conditions before and after, most likely any significant change is due to the bump skid. We shall see. I keep data from every fill up.

You're right, its not hard science because I am not controlling enough variables but it should be good enough to detect whether there is a noticeable effect.

I had the same problem. Then, when I took off the original skid plate (ooops), it worked fine.
 
Dan.... maybe ya have a placebo pill stuck under your install.....:roflblack:
FB's mileage has increased by 3 mpg since the installnojoke

Nothing else was changed.. it seems to work...this was running 75 to 80 mph per GPS, a little faster reading on the speedo... 120 to 150 miles between stops...(it was hot we needed water)
I was needing gas in my bike before the spyder was... and that had Never happened before..
I'll take that placebo anyday.:thumbup:

I can't imagine that it has interacted with any system in or on the bike in a way that could cause a failure...

The BumpSkid absolutely will not have any effect on your warranty. It does not interfere with any function including servicing.
 
Will skid plate support LEDs

In looking at the skid plate, it seems to have enough space to mount the led lights in a housing. For those that have it installed, can you comment?

A few owners have routed a slot just deep enough to inlay LED stips on the bottoms side of the BumpSkid. Some have attached LED strips on the lower tappered part of the front nose before the BumpSkid makes contact with the plastic nose piece. There are numerious possibilities with the BumpSkid because you can attach them without fear of getting them knocked off or damaged.
