• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Same thing happen to me as I'm turning the plastic screw the head pops off, they must of gotten a batch of screws mixed up from "Toys R US"
I just used the original metal ones.

Mine was dealer installed when I bought my Spyder and they used the metal screws. I'm 5'11" and am getting a strong blast of air right at my forehead. Madstad is making an adjustable bracket that I'll add as soon as they're available. I had one on my Suzuki and it worked great.

I have the 25" it is awesome! I have the plastic screw. I just snugged it in because didn't want to break it off. It seems to be ok time will tell I guess.

Got my dealer to install my 25" Ultra-Touring Windshield today. He used the existing metal screws, metal washers and rubber washers from the Sport Touring Windshield I got while I waited for the Ultra to become available. Plastic screws and other spare parts are still in the baggie.

I also held off on installing the deflectors and happy I did -- so far. Maybe when it gets colder . . .

Now, I have the standard and the Sport just laying around . . . Hmmm . . .

I love the new Ultra -- with some qualifications. Be aware that I have the HeliBar riser and I am a bit under 5' 7" -- so I suppose I sit on the Spyder more-like a 6' rider with standard handlebars.

With the Sport the wind hit me mid-forehead and created lots of wind sound on the sides of my 3/4 helmet.

Now the wind is hitting me just at the top of my helmet. Buffeting is noticeable above 55 MPH -- but, it is not right on the front of the helmet and is not making a huge noise in my ears now.

Here in NH it was very warm today (low 80s and humid) -- even though I was cruising around lake country near and around Lake Winnepasaukee. In truth I would have preferred the cooling breezes I was getting with the Sport windshield. BUT, when I stopped, I could actually hear the local sounds.

All things are trade-offs in life. I reduced the direct impact of the wind and reduced the noise -- but, I am hotter.

NOW WHAT? Perhaps I need the vents that F1 advertises for their windshields.

Better off protecting your ears and being a bit hotter...just dress a bit cooler...

I'm likley going to get the CHAD this fall...regardless, I wear earplugs as deafness with motorcycles is a matter of when, not if...argh!

I had a windshield with those vents and I felt zero difference in the wind on my body whether they were opened or closed. They might help you but I wouldn't count on it.

:agree: I had a Vetter with them, and they didn't even get rain through them. Perhaps pointed in the right direction with the somewhat more slanter Spyder windshield they would work, but I wouldn't count on it.

I just installed my new BRP windshield also. I used the old screws from the stock windshield. I listened to your reports and figured I'd go with these. It seems to work just fine for me. I'm 6' but tend to lean forward a tad. No risers. No buffeting. Keeps the wind off my chest. :2thumbs:

I used the...

I also installed the ultra touring but I used the metal screws that were already there. Also be aware to only torque these things to 22 inch pounds.

Like you at 23 inches it was much too short for us. I replaced it with a 30 windshield which is perfect for me @ 5'10 and the So @5'7". Mine was only used 10 days and very few miles, about 40 before I went taller.
