BRP response to brake light parts question on our brand new 2023's in BRP PRISON

BRP2023's Paroled from BRP PRISON

Good day XXXX,

Thank you for reaching out.

I have reviewed your email, and BRP is aware of the situation. These parts are being sent out as a selected release once they are available for shipping. This means that your dealer needs to open a case and request that the part be shipped out to them as soon as it is available. This is due to the shortage of parts with BRP's suppliers.

Customer care does not receive these updates, as my team and I cannot access the dealership's or shipping companies' system.

I understand that this can be frustrating, and I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I recommend contacting your dealership for further discussion regarding these parts.

I hope that this clarifies any questions that you had about the delay in the Brake Switch recall.

Should you require anything else, please do not hesitate to reply to this email or call us at 1-888-272-9222.

Have a great rest of your day.

Would be easy if I had ANY Spyder here at the house but to not even get an idea of the replacement part (no tracking) is crazy. Shame on me to have any expectation of BRP to show customer care. I probably would get better support from Huffy or Schwinn

I am sure the dealerships that sell the models effected by this recall already placed an order for the parts for their new inventory as I am sure they want to sell/complete the selling of them as soon as they can instead of them sitting around taking up space.

Now, the following is my opinion as I never owned a motorcycle prior to 2020 and this is how I am observing service at dealerships:
I got my first motorcycle during the height of the pandemic in 2020 when I got my Ryker 600. Shortly after, it broke down with a complete starter motor failure which also took out the computer. This is when I found out that motorcycle dealerships are not the same as car dealerships. Motorcycles are not considered as "primary" vehicles, they are considered recreational. Add on top of this that there are usually not as many mechanics at the dealerships and thus the turnaround on the bikes takes longer. Adding to the delay is the invertory shortage and staffing issues.

All that being said, I have learned that, even though I am really excited about getting my new Can-Am Spyder, I have to accept that getting all bent out of shape because it is taking longer than anticipated, does not help anything.

While I am waiting, I like to plan on where I would like to travel on the Spyder. Talk with my wife and see where she would like to go. Think ahead and maybe plan to have a picnic along the way.

I hear you, just cant believe they can track to the VIN where these things are but not track the parts. We have all kinds of rides planned, unfortunately we are having to cancel one because the truck is not the thing to drive :)

We have pushed our other plans a bit in anticipation of the delay.

Trying to stay positive and stop dreading the 9 hour round trip to go back yet again when they are ready. I failed to mention the crappy (keeping it clean) dealer here in Huntsville, AL. I would not stop there to take a leak on their front door of the sales department.

With that said, has ANYONE been able to get the new switch?

According to the BRP site and a few other comments on this forum, the switch won't be available until April. So, within the coming days/weeks :)
I understand wanting to have your machine and being able to ride now. On the other hand, what if you received your machine today, the brake light issue occurred w/o being repaired as part of a recall, and someone tapped the back of your new Spyder b/c they couldn't tell if your brake lights were actually active or not? Now you have to get your fancy toy repaired and that would require more than just waiting for a brake light switch to be delivered.
I understand the frustration. Hopefully, when you receive it or the slingshot you'll be able to enjoy it fully and safely.

:agree:

You would think they would be tracking a recall part and or the VIN the case is open under and be able to search it in a database. It really shows the disconnect between factory and dealer.

You would think they would have a better relationship with each other to keep their customers coming back.

But it just isn't there and that's the most disappointing thing about it.

Well insult to injury I guess, self inflicted anyway you look at it. Stopped by the local ****ty dealer to scope out the Slingshot and it is just a horrible thing. While we were looking, I noticed they were having an event in the parking lot. It was a CanAm Spyder demo day. Low and behold they had 6 2023 Spyder's going on the rides, F3T's and RT Limited's. I asked the guy running it if they were available for sale and he said they will be sold as demo models at a later date. I asked him if they were in jail for the recall, he smiled and said they were provided by the factory so the event could go on as planned. Being the smart ass, I asked if anyone wanted to buy one today would he tell them they cant take one home. He pointed out the dealer has none in stock so they tell the people they would have to order the unit and it would come with the new switch. I just smiled and opened the sunroof on the truck on the way home, as close as I could get on this fine sunny 76 degree day.... Back into the closet I go until the lottery hits and I get the call to make the long trip to get the toys. I learned my lesson on venting in this forum yesterday. Nothing but pictures, smiles, and positive vibes in my future posts.

I don't think there was any intent to force some edification onto you, I think it's just that the more time we spend ryding our Spyders (and that we do, some of us for up to about 15 years or so now, cos the machine & the concept itself is great, it's just the dealers; the customer service & treatment; & in some cases the execution of the features that's not always quite so great! ) we're all just becoming resigned to the way the dealers & the manufacturer treat us, their customers and the buyers/owners of these machines they make & sell as nothing much more than a source of more $$ when they need/want them...

Sure, someone from BRP might look in occasionally, but it's never anyone who really cares or can actually DO anything about anything, so that's generally as far as it goes.... Haven't you seen how often these smiley's get used here?? :banghead: :bdh: :dontknow:

Mind you, I often wonder why we don't see more of these.... :cus: - but maybe that's just me?! :dontknow:

Anyhow, the sun's just come out here where I am in Oz, it's not raining right now and the temp's not actually all that cold either, so seein'as how I've got a tank of gas in the Spyder and enough $$ in my pocket for a coffee, I think I'll just take myself & my constant 4-legged shadow Buster 'n go for a ride, maybe I'll grab a coffee on the beach & spend some time chasing seagulls (the dog, not me! :p ) cos we all know we should.....

Enjoy the ride, I bet you get some great rides in Australia. One day its in the plans to visit, would love to do some SCUBA diving as well. Best of both worlds would be a nice ride to the coast and blow some bubbles, followed by an evening in the land down under! Be safe Peter!

Try not to take it too personal. I promise you that the newer members who had to wait a year or more for the Spyders that they had paid for or ordered felt the same way as you. There are a few threads on here about them.
Not to mention there's still a lot of folks waiting on the drive sprocket recall to be fixed on their Spyders.
.
Once you get it and get a few miles on it all will soon be forgotten, hopefully.

K80 how right you are! I was one of those waiting last year. Once I started putting on the miles, I forgot (mostly) about the runaround I got from the dealer. It helped that I found a decent dealer that made the sale, and have a decent service department. I called them about the recall, they put the part on order, and will call when it arrives.

Stro - I hope you get your machine soon and are able to get out and enjoy it. It is worth the wait, in my opinion.

The sad part is the part shortage is not just a BRP thing.
My son in law is a body man that has a $100,000.00 BMW electric sitting in his bay at the shop for going on 5 months now waiting for parts. They waited until all parts were in before they tore it down. In the teardown it revealed some hidden parts that were damaged, so now it can't be driven, and the wait is on.
Customer is mad at the body shop, body shop is mad at BMW, and I am sure BMW is mad at the parts supplier, but it doesn't change the fact that the car is still sitting.

Happy thoughts and excitement... Will know the time frame in the morning, dealer called and said they got the parts today but they have not done any yet so they are unsure of the procedure. They called at 5:07 and the shop was closing for the night. Now if the weather holds out and they get them completed by Friday.

SpyderStro, any update?

I heard from my dealership that they are starting to receive the parts for the brake switch recall.

Bad news for me....the Spyder that came in that they thought was for me.....was not a Spyder RT Limited. Ah well....back to waiting for me.

That sucks, how can they mistake a crate that bad.... never mind, answered my own question (happy thoughts).

Ready to go, have to make the trek to the dealer Friday morning, they are just awaiting the signature. Parts came in yesterday and they called 11:13 and said the parts were installed no issues. Hope to have them loaded and on the way home by noon (eastern). Rain all the way until Sunday, just going to deal with it

Dodged the rain today

Well I did not think it would happen but our sales person at Mountain Motorsports in Marietta GA came through! She was on BRP to get the brake parts in a hurry to get it done! A huge shout out to Carrie. We got home and as soon as I unloaded them the sky opened up again so better pictures will have to wait. But here they are 2023 Carbon Black RT Limited, and my 2023 S2S.

They have more if you are looking I say call:
