BRP fix for oil leak

Had my bike at East Coast Cycle Center in Bensalem, Pa today to have new exhaust seals installed. While there I asked about the oil leak into the airbox, showed them Lamonster's fix and asked if that would void the warranty. They called BRP and were told to put a foam element in the breather tube. So far, trying all the right hand turns that would make it leak and after 50 miles not a drop of oil has leaked. I apologize there are not pictures as it was installed by the dealer but this seems to work so check with your dealer, this was covered by the warranty as were the seals. Also had the steering update done and it does make a difference.:yes::yes::clap:

Oil in air filter

What did BRP say about Lamonte's fix as far as warranty, because his fix works great.:spyder:

I put foam in the breather tube. This is only a temporary fix. After about 10,000 miles it needs to be replaced, the foam becomes saturated and no longer lets the oil go back down the breather tube. So, you once again, you get oil in the Air box. So, after replacing mine twice. I have installed the home made catch can. Now when I do an oil change, I just dump the oil out of the catch can. Much simpiler and more efficient, than cleaning the air box.

I believe...

I believe Lamonsters fix is still the best. And I just got the parts delivered about 5 minutes ago.

Kudo's to Lamonster for this one.

The 'foam fix' is equal to putting a band-aid on a severed corroded artery. I would be shocked if this was an actual BRP approved fix. Until it's in writing from BRP - I doubt it was more than a suggestion.

The oil catch or switch to the Race Air System are much better options in my opinion.

foam??

:agree:Stuffing foam down the breather tube is only a Stop-Gap fix, temporary at best.
