• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:yikes:anyone suffer a key broke off in ignition ??
one dealer told me to bring it in and he would cut another , I have doubts..

Second dealer said to trailer bike into shop and they would hook to buds
and program another key.

tried top part of key back in ignition and it started, so I"ll drive it in.

You have to have a good key, a master key, a blank, and be hooked to BUDS to program a key. Some dealers can't cut blank, and have to have a lock shop do that first. The second dealer obviously looked in the service manual and understands the procedure, or at least knows there is a special one.

This is how my Spyder was delivered; Scotty is exactly correct on the process. It's relatively painless if you've all the parts. I think my dealer wanted $30 for the key and programming.
If you don't have the spare key, though, be prepared to replace the lock assembly for around $560.

It just occurred to me, though, that you need not go through the expense of replacing the cylinder assembly if you have a blank cut that will turn the lock. The only requirement is that the original key head be close enough for the RFID chip to respond to the system. You can play with this on your own, but I found that I could successfully start the Spyder with the key head in my pocket. If I hadn't had the shipper paying for their mistake, I'd probably have taped the key head inside my hlemet and used a regular blank. You might have to 'kill' the chip in the head of the new blank, which would also give you the ability to drill a nice keyring hole in the key.
