• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Broken down again engine lignt on

Well back to same old problem but at least I broke down just a few hundred yards from my dealer. I was at the dealer and bought some gloves and when leaving the check engine light came on and the bike died just outside of his lot. I restarted and went a few hundred yards further and it did it again. I got it started and drove back but the speed was limited to exactly 14 miles per hour (yes I have the software upgrade that is supposed to allow a high limp speed).

The mechanic was there and was able to see the problem in real time. He through his computer on and it came up with several codes but estentially it was the throttle position senser again. So, called a friend (Don) and he came and picked me up and took me home which messed up his day as well. Now I am waiting to hear what they will do but it could be weeks before I will be on the road and our weather is fantastic right now. During the last bout of breakdowns they never changed the throttle body which was the common problem for most of the 2011's with simular issues.

Well, I can spend more time at home doing honey-do-items...oh joy! lol

Sorry to hear this Randy. nojoke Hopefully they can get it taken care of soon for ya. What was the latest on your battery, does the replacement work any better?

Seems no one would replace the throttle-body until it virtually stopped the machine -- which is when they finally replaced mine. In the meantime they would only do BUDS updates...

So far since the TB change-out, I have not had problems... but it's early in the season yet! :sour:

Just kidding on my last comment...

Throttle position sensor issues is what taught me that when Nanny says "NO!":lecturef_smilie: , she means it! When mine died; it was less than a Month out of warranty! :gaah: But it was a relatively cheap and quick fix; I called the dealer and let him know what codes I was seeing, so he had the parts ready. :thumbup:Good Luck!

Too bad they don't read their service bulletins. The TB bulletin calls for the throttle body to be replaced if any of four TB codes show up in BUDS.

No, I don't believe the Shorai battery is at all related to the throttle body problem since the stock battery was put back in and it starts like a champ every time. The new Shorai will arrive some time this month so I will be able to get a definitivef answer on that issue. I plan on just disconnecting the negative on the stock battery and using jumper cables for the Shorai test to save ripping the bike apart again. That being said, I have taken the panels off so many times in the last two years I have the timing down to about 45 minutes to strip her to the frame, lol.

Stop taking it back to the WEB it came from. It wants to stay:yikes:

Lol... it was back to the "web" for another warranty item, leaky lens on dash cluster.

I called my dealer yesterday and repeated what Nancy's Toy mentioned. They had not heard of it so can anyone send me a copy of the TB Bulletin?

Thanks,

Randy

Well..!!

The battery pros around here say the shorai's do not hold up well with the heavy bikes. Crotch rockets, atv's water craft are fine. There are others that do but also cost much more..wonder why..:dontknow: Good luck...my yuasa may be heavy but hasn't failed and not likely to bounce out...:roflblack:

I returned your PM. I would worry about a dealer that was unaware of a major warranty campaign of this nature. :banghead:

Yes, it underscores why I have broken down so many times, they just are not getting to the root of the problem. The next nearest dealer is a 100 miles from home so not a good option.
As far as the Shorai, I am reserving judgment until I get my new one back.

Well the codes identy the throttle position sensor and that is the part they ordered. With luck I will have it back later this week. The last time it showed the same codes but they did not change it to my knowledge so lets hope this is the answer this time.
