• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brand new F3 - Cruise Control and Sport Mode not working.

Okay, no ride, but I did go out and turn the key on, then pushed the cruise activation button.
I was expecting to see something along the bottom of the display, but eventually found it above the zero on the speedometer.

NOW we're getting somewhere! Thanks for this Racoon.

No matter what I do, no matter under what conditions I try it, I do not get the CC icon in my dash display.

Great! The last thing that I want to do is to take my new F3 back to the dealership...

I just subscribed to this thread, as my 2024 Spyder still has less than 200 miles on it, and the Operators Guide section on Operation During Break-in that during the first 1,000 km (600 mi):

- avoid full throttle acceleration
- avoid prolonged riding maintaining constant RPM
- and a warning about the cooling fans being on constantly during stop-and-go traffic

That second point would seem to exclude the use of the Cruise Control.

So I'll come back and read through the information again once I'm out of the break-in period. :)
I love these "suggested" methods for breaking them in. When I took delivery of my new 2014 RT, I did a day trip to the mountains on my second day. It was a 500 mile day, using cruise control at a steady speed for 3 hours until we got to the mountains. Then there was a lot of hard riding with wide open throttle and hard braking on side roads and along the BRP. We even did the Diamondback Loop (226A). At the end of the day, we had a great time. Kept the bike for 24k miles and it was the first of my 6 spyders and I will have to day, the most trouble free one.

There are those who follow the manufacturer recommendations.

And there are those who follow the "drive it like you stole it" recommendations.

Since my Spyder is still under warranty, I'll be following the Can-Am recommendations.

Even the older F3-S that had a Sport Mode could not be put in Sport Mode with a passenger on the seat or if you had weight strapped down on the seat. There was a pressure switch that blocked Sport Mode if there was weight on the Pax Seat.

I am not familiar with the newer models. Don't know if they have Sport Mode or not, but even if they had it, you were not allowed to use it with weight on the pax seat.

My 2018 F3L does not have Sport Mode nor does my 2023 F3L. Yes, generic manuals might still say so, as some have indicated. 😁🤷🏼*♀️

Check your brake lights. Cruise will not work with brake lights on.

You're suggesting that the brake lights might be on because of a malfunction of the brake switch? Nope, they're not on and the switch seems to work just fine.

Brake lights on or brake lights off, the little CC icon in the dash should show up when the CC is powered up, right?

Yes, it should. Not showing up when the cruise is turned on (but speed not set) with speed higher than the 35-40 mph needed to activate would be an issue...

Cluster, right hand grip issues, wiring issues, speed sensor, brake switch not installed correctly... take your pick. Take it back to the dealer and have them troubleshoot as it is under warranty. Oh, and be sure to make the tech drive it (maybe ride 2 up?) to avoid the "we can't duplicate the issue" thing!

Chiming in late to the discussion. I also have a 2023 F3L special series. I can confirm that there’s no Sport Mode but I went with a Pedal Box+ anyway so I don’t miss it. I rented an F3S for a week before buying my Limited and it had Sport mode. The owner installed a Pedal Commander so I never messed with it beyond one instance and I don’t recall feeling any difference but that was likely due to the Pedal Commander.

Regarding the cruise control, IIRC I don’t get the icon on my display until I actually set it but I’ll double check it on my ride into work this morning (I leave the switch on all the time so maybe that has something to do with it).

I confirmed during my commute yesterday that the icon for the cruise control doesn’t appear until I set the cruising speed. Just turning the switch on doesn’t cause the icon to show up.

Ok then, I finally got some time to really mess around with the cruise control on my F3.

It does work but I don't know why it's working now and not before, but that doesn't matter, it's working now.

I can verify that just turning the CC on does not cause an indicator to appear on the dash display. But once powered up and I click down on the CC button, it displays the icon on the dash.

Albec,

I also have a 2023 F3 LTD SS, and my CC does work, and I get the indicator displayed on my dashboard (I am usually going above the 25 MPH). I have used the CC several times.

I am glad that your CC is working now.

Interesting thread. I was thinking of starting a thread about sport mode on our '23 RTL. After reading all of this I am assuming the RT's don’t have sport mode either.
I had assumed there was no sport mode but sometimes asking a stupid question gets results.

HI Chasdog,

I have a 2023 F3 LTD Special Series which I bought brand new last year, and it does not have sport mode. It only has regular echo modes.

Also the RT's do not have sport mode.

Not a stupid question, Chas, especially not if you've read in your user manual all about Sport Mode so you assume that it's meant to be there - but you're right, RT's do not have Sport Mode! :lecturef_smilie:

And for those who might be thinking about any ECU or other computer upgrades to turn it on/make that feature available on RT's... it's been tried by many far more skilled at that sorta thing than I can even dream of, and no-one's found a way to do that - yet! :banghead:

But an ECU Upgrade CAN give your Spyder the same capability, only you'll hafta learn to control your right wrist for those times you don't want to use it!! I'm pretty sure that 'control your wrist' thing can be done - I just haven't really managed it yet, but I'm getting closer! :p

Well thanks for the last couple posts that spelled out my official answer. After reading the manual about setting the trip meter. I saw that sport mode thing in there and even though I knew better it was a glimmer of hope that it might actually work. Anyway as you stated Peter the manual is not always accurate.

That right there is an understatement!!!
